Crazy Texas Weather

Yesterday it was 85 degrees here in the afternoon and when the norther hit about dark the wind felt as if it was coming directly off of ice. The hill country which is north of San Antonio had some snow. We heard on the news some people from San Antonio drove to the hill country to see the snow. Bet thats hard for some who have too much of the white fluffy stuff to believe. It is going to be another cold one tonight so I will cover my Shasta daisy and bring the one that is blooming inside. Just to be safe I will drip my lowest faucet at my house because the heat isn't on there. It was too cold to do much of anything today (for us Texans I mean) so went to
The Heights where some of our elderly friends live. They keep them so busy we can hardly catch them in their room. One lady is 97 and her mind is sharp. She was already playing bingo so we didn't interrupt her. The other lady was coming down the hall toward the bingo room in her wheel chair. She looked as if she planned to make a grand entrance. Her hair was fixed to perfection and she had on a pretty lavendar blouse with a flower pin to match. We met her in the hall and you could tell she didn't know if she wanted to visit or wheel into the bingo room. We made her decision easy and told her we would come back another day. Then we looked up a judge from John's hometown. He was so happy to see John and seemed to appreciate the visit so much. He still has a good mind too so they talked about things and people they remember from days gone by. His physical condition wasn't so good but he didn't want help getting from the bed to his wheel chair. One other man we need to go visit who is in one of the old nursing homes. His sister told us he doesn't want to be moved to the new pretty modern one. The old one is on a main street and he likes to sit on the porch and watch the people in their cars going about the hussle and bussle of everyday life.

It's 35* right now but I never saw any snow today just a tiny bit of sleet. That lady was dressed like that and I've been hanging out in my long leopard robe ALL day. Never mind that I had company for two hours!! Sounds like they have a good time there.hmmmmm :)........

97 and sharp as a tack, huh? I hope I'm that way if I make it that long.

That really is some crazy weather you're having! *M*

Our weather has been nuts too Paula. It was in the 30's a couple of days ago. Then yesterday it was in the 60's and we had thunder boomers and now they are saying it may snow flurry tomorrow. Crazy this year. Nice that you visit the nursing homes. I'm with that old man who likes people watching.
Hugs, Joyce

Sounds about like California weather. I think Tx might be the only other place I could live.

What a great way to spend the day! I bet they love your visits. The crazy weather-snow in TX-I would drive to see it, too. In fact a couple years ago my husband was working in Chicago and I went up to stay with him just to see snow-we don't get much here anymore.

Those folks sound like they may be aged in years but not mentality and energy. So good for them! I bet they are thrilled to have visitors, except when its bingo time. :)

I completely understand the Texas weather thing! We had snow here in Houston and very chilly winds.

it's been freeeeeezing here, low 20's. Glad your friends are still active. Mrs H never does anything except watch Jeopardy and the White sox.
