Space Problem

No not outer space. I don't know why I have a big space between my header and my post. I'm ignoring it just like I am the fact live feeder says I live in Castroville. If I ignore them maybe they will go away. The real worry about space is where did my dumplins go. I havent made chicken and dumplings in over twenty years. I know me bad, don't cook much anymore. John was skeptical when I told him I didn't know if I remember how to make them. I thought I'll show him and then my dumplins' disappeared. The chicken is good and the juice is good but the dumplins are almost none existant. Too much water? Cooked them too long? Anyway I ended up with enough in the freezer for another meal. Enough in the fridge for a meal and a half and we had lunch.

  1. I LOVE Chicken and Dumplings. Don't have any advice to offer. I hope someone out there can help you FIND them? Take care.

  2. Lol Paula, the disappearing dumplings sounds exactly like some things I do. My cooking is a hit and a miss, always. Maybe your dough was too soft/light. My dumplin dough would come nearer to being too heavy. No chance in mine getting away!!!

I had space below my header picture once. I forgot how I fixed it. Seems to me I just removed the picture and replaced it, not sure. I guess it will fix itself. No worries...lol.

Good post Paula..lol. I started to tell you your dumplings hitch-hiked to my house and I ate them!!
I bet your chicken dish is very tasty.

  5. hahahahahahahahah!!! I cannot believe someone else has done this!!
When my mama was bedfast at our house, I told her I wanted to make some chicken and dumplins. She told me how. I am running from the bed room to the kitchen following the directions. At the end I slowly walked into ther room and said 'mama my dumplings are gone."

She laughed and said you stirred them too much too soon!!! So maybe that is where yours went!!!
But you probably know that laready. LOL

I had thick soup, wasn't really bad, but it was not dumplings.!!

    Love from over here.

  6. Lol. I cook chicken and dumplings today also. I like the white and Grover likes dark so I fixed them with dark meat this time. They didn't disappear but I could have used more dumplings in the pot.. Take care. Jean

  7. That is funny, I have never tried
to fix Chicken & dumplings I'm sure
    mine would also disappear. They
may not even make it to the pot.

I was wondering how the turtles
are doing and if they are still
    there.

  8. Shirl the turtles are still there but there have been so many cold days they don't come up. Also I haven't been going to the ranch much as John has help with the pear (cactus) burning and we don't all fit in the little ford ranger. When John can stop buring pear and the cattle have plenty of green grass to eat everything will get back to normal. Thanks for asking.

  9. when I was younger
    I didn't want to
    eat the chicken
    in with the dumplings
    so, my mother would
    fix me a separate
    piece of chicken
    how finicky is that?

  10. I have never made chicken and dunpling's. Mom did but I didn't like the looks of what I called at that time "dough Balls." Liked the chicken though. Have a Happy Valentines Day. I am getting a radiator put in the car for Valentines day.

  11. I used to cook my dumplings years ago in the pot of stew Paula, but often they would break up because they were too light.I for years now have bake mine in some of the stew in the oven, until lightly browned on top,as we like them a little crisp on the outside and soft in the middle.Yummy I love them.I laughed my lid off at this post you funny lady haaaaaa.xx Take Care God Bless Kath xx

  13. Well Paula, you didn't lose dumplings...you gained gravy! I bet it was delicious...not a whole lot of "scratch" cooking around our house either but we don't seem to be losing any weight from it.
