Fair Weather Friend

John has been accusing me of being his fair weather friend because I have been skipping the early morning ritual of pear burning. It is sooo cold and he is going sooo early. Really it is hard for me to get around to my medicine ritual, collect everything I need, and get dressed warmly. So to make it up I went with him right after lunch to repair some fence. Cardinals were all over the ranch. I've never seen so many in one place. It was still cold so I dug out everything warm I could find that hasn't been worn in years. I even wore something that belonged to my daughters and went out of style probably in the 70's. I knew I was going to need those things one of these days. I can't remember what they are called. They are not socks and they are not leggings. They go over your jeans and run from your ankle to your knee and they are warm and something I was saving for If it ever snows in south Texas again. They were highly in style when my girls were teens. Anyone know the name?

Shucks I am still seeing that little Girl Pauline singing "YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE" to the top of her lungs. You draw a good picture with words. Love it.

Leggings! You could probably get some money for them.

What is pear burning?

I know what you are talking about Paula, but I don't remember what they are called. That dancer in Flash Dance wore them. You wear them over your calves. Sounds like John expecting you to go out to burn pear is kinda like Pete expecting me to ride into the deer lease.

You sound bundled up and warm. Don't know what they're called.

I seem to recall those in the 80s and they were called "Leg Warmers," LOL. I remember seeing Cyndi Lauper and Madonna wearing them in movies, etc. I think I still have my one and only pair and my daughter hijacked them and haven't seen them since. They do keep you warm!

They're leg warmers I believe, as most all told you already. I wear them atop my pj pants at night before I go to bed recently.

I've seen pictures of what you're describing but I can't remember what the name is!

I've seen them because my ex-wife used to wear them skiing. Functionally, they're used to keep snow out of your shoes and boots and keep you warm.

Fashionably, I never had any idea of their use. Probably the same as buying torn jeans for exhorbitant prices.

Leggings or leg warmers. Wish I had some.
Guess if he gets up too early... he goes alone. :)
