Right Time, Wrong House

All days to clean house in my night gown. No make-up, wooly hair. you get the picture? I happen to look out the front door and my house was surrounded by policemen. Four squad cars to be exact. I spot one policeman standing back from the door looking that way as if he expects something or some one to come barreling out any minute. Oh mercy daze as a deceased friend of mine used to say. This could only happen to me. I grabbed a winter housecoat, the only one in sight and run out to see what this is all about. All the time I'm thinking someone came onto my porch and saw the snake and thought it was real and called the police. The birds have pecked at it until it is hanging down and only hanging on by the tail. I can just see that policeman drawing out his service revolver and shooting at that snake marring my porch. This is my house I say to him and he replies yes we have the wrong house. The four squad cars are up and down the street and finally stop at a house down the street.

  2. Funny but not funny ~ I hope you know that 'inquiring minds' will be waiting for the rest of the story - why where they in your neighborhood??? Now go get dressed! lol

  8. Like Cher said, funny but not funny ~ it reminds me of an incident with Cheryl and my Mom coming home from Texas one time and we were the victims of a mistaken identity. I'll have to post on it one of these days.

  11. Paula, in answer to your question about a cellar...we have a basement with emergency food and water, shelter blankets, radio and flashlights, etc. However, my son, Andy, being a certified weather watcher, has put the bug in me to stand at the window, I know, not wise, and watch the storms come and go. We have only had to go to the basement a couple times. Thanks for your concern. This last one with those treacherous winds, tho, was scary and I was home alone.

  12. That was extremely unnerving, but look at the bright side - at least they didn't fingerprint you and take a mug shot. And you weren't strip-searched.....

  13. Oh boy Paula! I got the picture and thought the same thing would probably happen to me. When I was on my honeymoon, hubby and I were lying together on the sofa in our hotel room. The door flew open with police & hotel security rushing in....oooops, wrong room. LOL. At least we were clothed and they gave us a free meal.

  14. That is strange. Wouldn't be strange in my neighborhood, but yours, it would be I am sure.

  15. Creepy. Unfortunately I've heard of these wrong house scenarios with very bad end results. Glad you are ok...and that they realized their mistake before anything else occurred. ~Mary
