Could My Vibrating Washer Mystery Be Solved?
A report on TV last night has me thinking. The report was about the Eagle Ford oil field area in which we are a part of. They interviewed a lady who said things were jiggling in her house at times. They spoke about all the oil field activity and how they have to dispose of the salt water that comes from the oil they are pumping out of the wells. At one time they run it out on the ground but are no longer allowed to so they have what they call injection wells where they pump the salt water into. Somehow some people think that is causing earthquakes. Now they were not specifically speaking about this area but about southeast of us but I do know there is a least one injection well between us and the ranch. My washer doesn't vibrate everyday and it didn't do it until recently. I've heard it maybe three times and it has always been when I haven't used it or the dryer and I have not used anything in the house to cause a vibration plus we have a sturdy cement foundation with brick walls. Humm could it be a mini earthquake?

possible...but you'd think you'd feel some vibrations somewhere...even if your house is on sturdy foundation. But it's still a possibility if stuff like this is happening 'round your area.
Could be tiny tremors - almost like aftershocks or the mini-earthquakes you described.
i know the fracking they're doing has been causing all sorts of quake activity (of course the companies deny it). but you'd think some of your other items would rattle too - like dishes or cups or pictures on the wall. but who knows?
hmmm... a possessed washing machine?? I'd rule out the earthquake theory first :) Now... I have a question for you. Did you know your daffodil picture in the header is upside down?? It's too early for April Fool's pranks. Or is your computer possessed too?
It's very possible that the oil field activity is causing your washing machine to behave strangely because of the vibrations.
This suddenly reminded me of something. When I lived in San Angelo, they were doing some massive nearby highway construction which required dynamite blasts. The dynamite blasts happened all day long for about a month. I remember that everything in the house rattled constantly and dishes even fell off shelves!
You may be spot on about the oil fields activities causing your washing machine and dryer to vibrate. or it could have been a little earthquake.
Nah, it's John. He be talking to the machine and it takes it a long time to answer and it speaks with no one there to answer. LOL
Strange that, but it very well could be connected to the oil fields. Things done as deeply as they do them could make all kinds of weird changes, I would think... But I do hope the mystery is solved. Get a chair and a good book ans sit beside it and it may talk more... Love from over here... Our best to John!!!
I guess I like flowers upside down. This is the second time I've done that. I kind of like them that way. I did grow them right side up when it was warmer.
I like them that way too :) Heck, I just like seeing green ~ I'm going snow blind this winter!
Water hammer is a very loud banging, knocking or hammering noise in the pipes that occurs when the flow is suddenly turned off. It is caused by a pressure or shock wave that travels faster than the speed of sound through the pipes, brought on by a sudden stop in the velocity of the water, or a change in the direction. It's also been described as a rumbling, shaking vibration.I Don't know if this could be the reason Paula, but I hope you do find an answer.Take Care God Bless Kath xx
I wouldn't venture a guess about the washing machine. Doubt it's haunted.
Header looks just fine, makes people pay attention!
Sounds like frickin'-frackin caused by oil field activity. Weird. Up here, when the ice begins to melt off the rooftops, there's all kinds of cracking and snapping going on.
Maybe with all the cold weather reaching you guys, our temperate zones are switched...I do not wish our cold weather and it's antics on anyone. Hope your activity stops, cuz that's just too weird.
Maybe it just gets cold every once in awhile and shivers...:-D . I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with the oil field. Take care, Sheila
That is scary stuff. Maybe y'all need to call Erin Brockovich? She is an eviromentalist (spell check is saying that is wrong, but I don't know how else it's spelled) and consumer advocate. You might have seen the movie about her. She is still fighting for the little person.
