He may think he is a grasshopper but he is a dog. A feisty dog, a dumped dog. John's daughter lives on a dead end road but another road runs near by with no houses so it is the perfect place to dump unwanted animals without being seen. They have some dogs and cats in the house so they have resorted to pens in the front to give a home to these poor unwanted dogs. It isn't an ideal arrangement but she does provide a house for each animal and plenty of food and water and bedding in the houses. This little grasshopper dog and John have an ongoing love/hate relationship. When we go out John stops beside his pen to talk to him and he barks and growls and stands on his water bucket. I think grasshopper would be disappointed if John didn't stop to talk to him and the only way he knows how to respond is to growl and bark. We don't have a fenced yard for a dog and it would upset Susie but John can be a dog's best friend when we visit there.

oh, poor little feisty baby. i bet he would LOVE john up close. :)
we have a road nearby similar to that - thelma and louise were dumped and starving on that road when we found them, started feeding multiple times a day until i could grab them, stuff them in the car and bring them home 2 1/2 weeks later.
Nothing like living where people can throw away pets they don't want. It's a world of haves and haves not - a heart, that is.
That's how we found Millie down beside our private fence it's woods on the other side of the street. We don't know where someone dropped her off are where she came from , just that no one claimed her. We've had her now 2 years and they would have to fight me for her. Lol. That is a pretty dog and I can see why someone could fall in love with him. Take care. Jean
You mean she takes all those animals in - what a gal!
Those throw-aways make nice pets most of the time. Shame on folks who will abandon a pet.
I am glad John give Grasshopper some company.
You always have a great entry lady!
That Jean is a forgiving lady ain't she. Millie jumped on her and pushed her down and she still loves that dog. But she & You are natured much alike.
How sad that people abandon these lovely creatures.
I don't see how anyone has the heart to abandon a pet...so so sad. I am glad that she takes them in.
Poor Grasshopper...to be abandoned like that!! But John's daughter is a sweetheart for taking the 'unwanted' in for shelter, food and loving.
And the post below...sad to have lost the Llama to a rattlesnake bite tho.
Oh, and George Strait...you mentioned it yesterday in your comment to me.......gotta love him!! Now I'm gonna be hummin' Amarillo By Morning all day.
He is a beautiful dog.
He is beautiful, and it is sad people are doing that to animals. They start out with cute puppies and then when they become too much because they don't want to put the time into them they get rid of them. Shame on them! Hope he warms up to John eventually...keep visiting! :-)
I bet those two understand one another. haa
