Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

No rest for the wicked they say. That must be us, we had to go back to the site where the truck drove into the next ranch. John had to add another post and that post driver is heavy iron so we (he) decided if they could drive over the hills and dales and cactus and mesquite bushes we could too. We made it and he installed the post while I sat in the truck reading "Ladies Night" by Mary Kay Andrews. John likes for me to be with him to watch for the short sticker mesquite bushes as he drives. One of the part Jerseys was missing so we looked over the whole place hoping the truck hadn't hit her. We found her on our last area to look and there she was coming to meet us hoping we had feed. We did. John pets his jerseys and part jerseys for some reason. He could tell she had given birth and had been nursed. He went one way and I the other. I spotted that cute baby right near the little roadway. It was all huddled in the tall brown grass and never got up, just looked at me as if to say "what is this world all about ?" As we went over the stock tank dam we stopped and I called to the turtles. The warm days have brought them out of the mud. The first one came right out of the water to meet me and ate bread out of my hand. Oh rest assured I'm careful. It was a big piece of bread. I held it by one corner and let it eat off the other side. Left food for the cottontail and headed for home. Let me add I feel for the illegals too and I'm sure if I lived over there I would want to come here too. The coyotes are the ones making money off them and tearing the fences down. We're over it now, it isn't the first time and it won't be the last as there is about two and half miles of farm-to-market frontage so lots of area for them to run in to.

glad mamma cow and baby were fine and were within john's area. and you are sweet to tend to the turtles and cottontail, both. :)
I read Ladies Night. How do you like it, so far?
Gosh you really do live on a farm - I love it!
And I love Mary Kay Andrews books too.

Glad you found your mama cow and calf doing well. I think it would kind of made me mad if I had to get up and go out at night because some crooks tore down the fence.
I love it when you turn Dr. Dolittle and talk to the animals and they talk back.
It is amazing how full of holes our border is. One of the problems is the huge majority of our population NEVER KNOW THE HUMAN problems caused by the likes of the Coyotes. The national press doesn't seem to get the real life stories of what all is involved.
Always glad when you find the calves safe and sound. You always have treats, I'm coming to your house...
:) Sorry you're having coyote problems again...varmints, and I mean of the human persuasion...
You are the best kind of ranchers...get the fence fixed and move on to the next problem needs solving. TX aughta give you a gold star every day.
Glad to know the calf is okay.
It's a sad thing to be the one that the 'coyotes' do damage to your property tho!!
