Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

You Can't Win For Losing
Our winter has been colder and more cold days in a row then normal so I ran my central heat more. I was expecting a larger then normal bill, but when it came last week I had a $13.00 credit on it. How can this be? Will it be like one time I received my telephone bill indicating I was paid up for three months? I knew I wasn't, I just pay what I owe every month. When I called them they told me, no mam, you sent us a check for thus amount. By the time I finished talking to them I was convinced I was losing it. They eventually found their mistake but hardly admitted it. Anyway I'm feeling pretty good about not receiving a large power bill. A little ahead for a change? Today John and I (with me driving my truck) are cruising along a street near our house when I see red lights flashing in my rearview mirror. I pulled over to the side and the policeman directs me to a parking lot which was my doctor's office. Wow! I just felt like my doctor and all his staff must be peering out the window. How embarrassing, more like the waiting patients were looking. I've done it before trying to see if anyone I know is getting a ticket. I'm digging for drivers license and proof of insurance as he walks up to my window and asks "did you know you were doing 42 miles an hour in a 35 miles an hour speed limit"? Gee I'm thinking those fast cars that drive on my tail on this street everyday and can't you see I have white hair? Then he ask me if I was in a hurry to get somewhere. No just going home. I didn't tell him I was going home to take a nap like all good old people do. So I'll be seeing the judge on the 4th of April to pay out what I saved on my electricity probably.

I don't know if it works the same in your state, but if the police officer is a no show and you say not guilty, it gets thrown out. I've done both, and went for a reduced fine. I got robo cop that was catching several of us at the bottom of a hill. The reason I titled him "robo cop" was because his line of offenders was much longer than two of his counterpart police brethern.
That's terrible getting a ticket. Especially after you saved all that money on your other bill. maybe the police officer in question will be a no show.
Oh my gosh he gave you a ticket for doing 7 miles over?? Sounds like he was being a Mr. Cranky Pants.
oh, that's terrible! i'm sorry for the ticket!
I'm with Optimistic up there ^. 7 miles over is, all but, overlooked around here. Cops don't think it's worth the time to stop and fill out the paperwork.
Us old folk are a menace to the world. I know exactly what you are saying about the guys on your bumper. I drive the speed limit and get a line of cars, I speed up to 5mph over and still gather a line. AMAZING.
But no matter the speed limit, there is always the guy who needs to be where you are (except when the ticket is being written)
QUESTION: If you plead guilty and get fined, does that affect your insurance rate? If it does it will be cheaper to hire a lawyer.
I once got a ticket for 5 mph over the limit. I foolishly tried to defend myself because I WAS NOT speeding, and lost. Got a $39 fine, but an increase of $150 a year for 3 yrs on the ins. I wished I had gotten a lawyer as much as I despise them.
If it doesn't effect the ins. just go inthe court and start throwing stuff and act normal, the judge will throw it (or you) out. LOL
Love ya!!
Good luck,
Gosh Im sorry to hear about ur ticket, but I did chuckle a bit. Ive missed reading ur blog, Ive been gone a bit, but Im back to blogging. Take Care
Been there. Done that. Good luck with the judge...:)
John's daughter got a ticket in this exact spot a few weeks ago going just a bit over the speed limit. We're calling it a mini speed trap. She says I can plead guilty, pay, and be on probation for a few months and after that not have it on my record.
It never fails to amaze me that the cops always give tickets to innocent, harmless drivers - - while the reckless speeders ZOOM by.
The worst place I've seen for speed traps in Texas is San Angelo. They're everywhere. I once got a ticket there for going ONE mile over the speed limit (no kidding).
