Nice Morning At The Ranch

No work just play and A cool, cloudy morning. We just rode around looking for the hogs and they are still in the same area. I didn't see anything for them to eat so it must be the muddy creek bed they are liking. They used to stay on the neighboring ranch and just visit us to dig at times. They may be hunting them (no hunting season on them) or trapping them so they moved. We saw one turkey hen near the stock tank. It's color looked so different, like a light brown instead of the usual gray. My babies, the turtles met me for breakfast. They got little cat food tidbits instead of bread. We walked into the pear ground to see if the snake crawled off and died from the heat John put to it yesterday. We saw a snake drag and it was no little one. It isn't so dangerous for us to walk in there because there is no grass and we can see what we're stepping on. By this time it was lunch time so we went into Charlotte (not North Carolina) shoot yes Texas has a Charlotte. We ate a salad at the Trojan cafĂ© named for their school. We were the only customers being Saturday and no school and businesses closed. That's how small the town is.

That does sound like a small town! On another note - I'm glad you didn't encounter any snakes or wild hogs when you ventured out.

Sounds like you had a nice time out and about. Wonder what's going on this weekend. Few people were out here either.

The fun days are the best. I met an environmentalist once in Florida who was standing lamenting a dead rattler that had got caught in a controlled burn.
The lady was saying they should warn the wild life before burning.

I quoted my friend Jerry Clower, there ain't no bad way to kill a rattler. She didn't smile.

Love from North Carolina.

Having a small quiet town closed for the weekends sounds heavenly.

Hi!
I'm trying to catch up on your posts after you left me a comment last week while I was out birding most days along with a national birding convention being held in our city. Hope your week ahead is a good one. Thanks for stopping by to leave me a comment.

Paula, reading your blog makes me want to see Texas again and I will probably soon. My cowboy can't enjoy going anyplace if it is not toward Texas...haa. I have been trying to pull him toward the Florida Keys...probably won't work..haa.
Thank you for you nice comment in my pictures today.
