No Drum Sticks For Supper

I feel so bad for some lady with a big family when she looks into the fridge and no chicken legs for supper. This afternoon we were in the direction of the next town over which has a grocery store that is not so big like Walmart or HEB so I went in for a few things, not wanting to fight a big crowd. John got separated from me and a clerk could tell he was wandering around. She ask him if she could help him find anything. He said yes my wife. About that time we all spot each other across the store and wave at each other laughing. When we got to the check out with about not more then seven items. The two cashiers were joking around with us about a wife missing in action so I was trying to watch as they rung up my purchases. John carried several bags out and when we got home and I started putting things away I said I didn't buy any chicken, just stew meat. John did you buy chicken legs? He looked puzzled and finally got the message and said no. So he checked the receipt, no chicken legs, but we had chicken legs. I hadn't noticed anyone ahead of us and didn't notice any stray bags on the counter. I was too tired to drive back over to the next town so I kept them. Instead of stew meat in the crock pot it will be chicken soup. I ask John if he thought they were giving a package of chicken legs to anyone who bought a certain amount. Noooooo he said. Would you have driven back or cooked the chicken? If you say driven back I'm going to feel terrible. lol

i probably wouldn't have driven back, but like you, i'd feel bad for whoever paid for them and missed them.

Being, I've gotten home without something I've bought, I wouldn't have gone back. Comes around, goes around.

I wouldn't have gone back either. Just to far too drive. Enjoy your chicken. There are times I've gotten home and realized they didn't bag something I bought. I wasn't happy but not worth driving back for...it happens!

don't feel bad
it's not your fault

Of course not! Yes, someone may have missed getting their purchase, but hey...look at it this way...the store may have added the legs to your purchase just in case the wife goes missing again and hubby can cook chicken up better than stew.

Honestly Paula is you had already gotten all the way home I would not have driven them back. It's not like you intentionally did it!

Nah, no need to drive back. the cost of gas would over shadow the costs of return. And in the long run would make no difference.

Life plays out in so many different ways. We Would like, that it would all work out perfect for us all.

You live an interesting life, love the stories. Hugs to Bro John....

For some reason you were meant to find the chicken legs - maybe a thank you for the laughs at the store? :) I hope the chicken soup was delicious!

It was meant to be.

Well, it wasn't your fault if the cashier put them in your bag or if some other customer left them behind. Hopefully whoever wanted them has them on her receipt and can go back and get another one without it costing her anything.
