Country Tour

This railroad car was a little "stop and shop" for years about a mile from the ranch. Now it's a little hamburger joint. We passed it going to visit John's sister in the country this afternoon. Sometime you just have to figure out some place to go to get out of the four walls even though it is too hot to get out. When we drove up to John's sister's place she met us outside and was ready to get out too. We all packed into her new air conditioned truck for a country tour. She took us southwest of she and John's home town on country roads pointing out familiar names to them of people who have oil wells on their land now. Big gates and wide roads installed down to the wells. I'm happy for all those people, but wish I had some land to lease out. Oh well! When I could get a word in edgewise I ask her how long the town has had a radio station. She said it's been kind of a mystery. She lives right there and didn't know they had one either. Seems it was trashed and now no one knows where it is. That's the craziest thing I've ever heard of--- a radio station incognito

If it was trashed - I can see why they are incognito! Haha!
No oil around here, too bad...

That turtle in your header photo is so sweet. LOVE it. Sounds like you had a nice afternoon out and about. Oil brings big money into town and that's good for the economy, I suppose.

Funny, she did not know where the radio site is now located. We actually have a road where the high school sits in a few towns over called "Old Radio Station Road", lol. I don't think there is actually a radio station on it though...not sure how it got its' name. Now I'm going to have to do some researching!

A radio station who's location is unknown. Sounds mysterious! This would make a good creepy short story prompt :)

Sounds like you had a nice outing. Especially in a new air conditioned truck. I just read your entry before this one about lunch. Have you discovered bohemians do not have a big sense of humor??

An underground radio station, like Radio Saigon. Reasons similar. This one doesn't want to be trashed. Saigon doesn't want to be shut down.

I am the very last person who wants to soak up the social swirl, nevertheless, I agree that sometimes you just have to get out of the 4 walls~even if you don't have so much as an embryo idea what to actually go & do.

Just checking up on a few people :).
