Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

John and I must get out more.
I know I've posted this picture before but it's the only picture of something in our town that I have on here. Today I dropped John off at the dentist and went to one of our two very small thrift stores to look for books. They had a radio playing and I soon realized they were telling local news. I knew a body had been found yesterday on one of our favorite country roads right outside of town but that is all I knew. I stood listening as they were telling more. When I checked out I ask the lady what station they were listening to. She told me the number and Charlotte. Wow! John's little hometown has a radio station. How did we miss that? I'm impressed and happy as we usually have to wait until Wednesday when our little newspaper comes out to see what went on in our county. It's mostly old news by then. Lots of news going on now just like the big city. A man was found with a printer in a local motel printing up "funny money". Small plane crash at our little airport. Six people not hurt, thank goodness. No names in the paper, guess the pilot was embarrassed since he was trying to land incorrectly with or against the wind, not sure. A lady dropped her nine year old daughter at the hospital door with her social security card telling her they would take care of her. We used to have a radio station here for years. Now out of business for years. I'm excited to be able to hear our news when it happens and listen to good country music back to back.

wow! nice to have a small-town station available!
So amazing you accidentally found out that the small town has a radion station so you can enjoy some good music and being up to date now :)
I hope you'll have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for your wonderful comment on my last post. I really wish I could go to the strawberry festival, I'd love that! :)
There is nothing in the world nicer to listen to than a down home local radio station. ENJOY.
Wow, I didn't think they had them anymore! Our radio station is nothing but canned music and it's not my taste.
It is so strange you mention this. Sherry and I passed our local station today and there was a 'FOR LEASE' sign out front, and I was wondering if anyone listen to local stations any more. A refreshing blog.
OH, we had a turtle visit today. 3' from the front door. he froze when we went out I sat 3' from it and talked to it asking it if he had met you out in Texas. I never heard a word. (smile)
There's only one radio station in my small cow town and it's in Spanish - - so, I have to listen to the Lubbock stations.
I actually listen to a variety of stations on the radio and I've discovered that the ones from small towns are much better than the big city stations. They are more genuine, with a homey, old-fashioned quality.
No matter where you live it seems these days, bodies are found.
It's great to have a radio station that airs local news!!!!
But....how did the dentist appointment go, and did you find any good books?
we still have a few local stations around here. I like to listen to the live shows where people call in and tell what they have for sale. There are some real characters out there.
I guess my little hometown in Alabama is doing pretty good, they have 2 radio stations. One has 'dateline local'(local news) 'every hour on the half hour'. :) Hope you have a great weekend! Sheila
I'm with you, Paula. We seem to enjoy the same things.
Small town radio and country music at its best.... lucky you!
You had excitement in your little town. We have so much crime it is not funny. We can not get good country music anymore.
