Awww How Sweet!

Had a chance to read some more of Jack's book "Sticky". You can find him at Shipslog right here at blogspot. His book is proving to be a very good read. This pink is for Sherry, his wife who is his helpmate. We were in a doctor's office waiting and in between people watching, the thing I do best, and kids coughing, I was reading. Couldn't help but notice the little elderly couple walk in. They were in an intense conversation so I marked my place and listened. He was saying I know you're mad but when I married you I vowed to take care of you and I'm going to do that if it hairlips me. Now that is a word I haven't heard in a long time. Or is it two words? As they stepped up to the receptionist the gentleman was telling her someone called just now and told me to not let my wife take her medicine or it could make her sick or kill her. Did you call he ask the receptionist? She said be seated and the doctor will be with you in a minute. When they came out the receptionest was reminding him let her take her medicine the way she always does. It won't make her sick or kill her. I'm wondering if he misunderstood the caller or if it was someone playing a prank because he said when he ask who it was they hung up. How sad if it was a prank. They were such a sweet little couple and he was so concerned. She told him she wasn't mad at him.

That is sad. People can be so mean if it was a prank! I do hope that it wasn't some kind of "warning" though. I do believe things like that can happen. You never know. *M*

Hi Pauline, I found you through Cindi's journal and I'm glad that I did!

That story is heartbreaking. What in the world is wrong with someone that would do such a cruel thing. I can't stand it. Bless their hearts.

Oh that is such a cruel thing to do to a nice couple like that but what a loving husband to bring his dear wife in and be sure. So sweet.

Good morning, Paula. What a shame that someone would do that. If it had been a legitimate call they would not have hung up. How sweet of the man to be that concerned :).......

I think old couples are great. Rusty does the same thing to me. He will haul my bum into the hospital, and hold me down so I can get a shot! I hate him at the time, but vowed to my dad and to his dad that he would take care of me.

Loved the entry about the old couple. Also all the comments. Yeah, it has been along time since I heard the expression 'Hairlipped' also. Probably not politically correct. But it was a term used often in my younger years, strange how words and expressions change. I remember when 'cool' came out! That old man was cool!

How cruel can someone be to call and say something like that to the elderly man? Sometimes us old people do misunderstand what is said. My husband and I both have a hearing problem. Take care, Jean

How horrible if it had been a prank. I'm glad he took her to the doctor to find out for sure (and that she wasn't mad at him). How sweet.

you can tell they've been married a long time! the other day mark and i were at home depot trying to put dry wall into the pickup. it was heavy, we had the tail gate down. we slide one piece in and it smashed my finger. of course we started yelling at each other. we put another piece in and they sagged from the weight. a couple about 3 rows over must of heard us as the man said, "hey if you close that lift gate you'll be fine". we both looked at each other and cracked up. sometime married couples have to be mad to keep the love alive!! thanks for this lovely story, and I too home it was not a prank!

What an ugly joke. I guess we can assume caller ID was no help here.
