Bring On The Tomato Juice

Guess who Susie is sacheting around with now? Oh Susie is my cat. John woke me this morning saying Susie is walking down the street with a skunk. He'll say anything to get me out of bed. Yes she is and they aren't fighting and it doesn't have it's tail up or anything, I think this is not their first meeting. They are acting like they are friends. Aren't cats and skunks from the same family? They call skunks polecats. Okay I'm awake now where did they go? He said when I opened the door she came running to the door. Where did the skunk go? I think it went into my carport. I have seen the skunk in our yard and I have smelled the odor other times. Now what am I going to do if I confront this skunk in the carport and its a mama with little ones? What if its sleeping in Susie's bed with my dirty socks? I have to put a pair of my used socks in her bed to get her to sleep in it? I always wanted a deodorized skunk for a pet. Maybe this is my chance for my dream to come true.

My aunt Norma had a skunk. Really cute. Would come and go out of the house through a doggie door.

I helped care for a blind skunk when I volunteered at the Wildlife Refuge. He was a sweet little thing. *M*

LOL. That is just too cute. It has been a few years since any skunks tried to live around here. I think all the dogs in the neighborhood are just too mean for them. P.D. (my grandson's dog) will kill them no matter how bad it makes him stink. He hates cats, too. :)

What do you get when you cross a domestic cat with a skunk? Stay tuned to find out...lol. Thats interesting that the skunk didnt feel threatened by Suzie. I hope the skunk is as friendly to you as it is to Suzie and keeps its spray to itself. Whew! ;)

When we would go for a walk and I smelled (or smelt) a skunk, it made me think...what would I do if I got sprayed (touch wood). I decided I would go to a nearby gas station and call my mother. She only lives 4 miles away. She would come to my rescue with tomato juice! It would be sad if you had to go to the store in that condition and I sure wouldn't want to stink up my car.

My parents Husky once got to close to a skunk. They tried everything to get that smell out. I do hope that the cat does not smell that bad!

how cute, suzie and da skunk! here in georgia people are not allowed to own skunks unless they are the white kind, and then they have to have special permission. i grew up calling skunks pole cats, but they are 2 entirely different animals. i found the following description online.

Old World weasel Mustela putorius with a brown back and dark belly and two yellow face patches. The body is about 50 cm/20 in long and it has a strong smell from anal gland secretions. It is native to Asia, Europe, and North Africa. In North America, skunks are sometimes called polecats. A ferret is a domesticated polecat.

by the way, paula, what are you going to do if suzie invites her new friend to dinner? lol.

I'd love to see that! I know someone who wants a de-scented skunk for a pet. I hope you are able to get a picture, but I hope it doesn't try to move in or anything.
