Friction At The Farmhouse

If you get sick of reading about the young renters tell me in a comment and I'll try to zip it. I will explain again this small ranch (378 acres) was divided three ways among the grown children of the former owners. The piece of property on the left is owned by one of the daughters and her son loves to hunt. The middle piece is owned by the only son. The only son dislikes the nephew who loves to hunt so he put gates and no trespassing signs. John has three landlords on this one piece of property but he knows how to walk on feathers with them. He grew up on the piece of property to the right as his Dad owned it and sold it to the orginal couple. Are you following me or do you want to? lol Nephew called yesteday to tell John he was out hunting and a large deer came in sight and was scared off before he got a shot off. He said some guys driving a yellow truck and a black truck with big lights across the cab started shooting and must have seen the deer at the same time he did. I see the same yellow truck here in town that was in the cattle tank. Same red decals in back window. Renter said he sold it to his brother-in-law who could fix it so it can go into reverse. Black truck with lights on the cab? Renters new truck? Yes I would say so. John and new renter have been as close as two peas in a pod lately. Well we headed west in the dark tonight to have a talk with new renter AGAIN but there was no one home. Before you say why don't you make them move let me say this is John's rent property. I sold mine several years ago. I'm just an observer and I told you so person in the deal. They can stretch John a looong way and one of these days he will snap. John has leased this place a long time and he doesn't even have permission to hunt there. The renters have been told over and over they are only renting the house and yard. Come Saturday night I would be driving along the farm to market road keeping my eyes peeled for lights in the pasture with my fingers positioned on the game warden's number.

I don't care for hunting for sport, let alone hunting illegally. I hope you do catch him in the act and the game warden gets involved. Maybe by then John will have second thoughts about renting to this guy. (Hugs)Indigo

There's bound to be pleanty of legal places to hunt around there. They don't have to disrespect John or anyone's wishes.

Walk softly and carry a rifle with a scope. Time to send the renter on his way. Great shot of the cactus in bloom.

I will never understand sport killing. If I or my family was hungry I could raise the rifle and fire, but just killing to kill makes me sick. Hope he is caught and John evicts his arse.

LOL Fine with me about you writing about the young renters. lol Sounds like it is taking a long time for this young renter to learn what he should be doing. :( He has to go by the owners wishes. Hope things go well. Janie

I remember when I left the house for a walk at the farm, my dad would say "Watch out for those blankety blank idiots from Dallas who come out here and shoot anything that moves." We were next to some government land. Rifle season has started, so there is no peace. Maybe the young people can learn something from your husband about respect.

I can't imagine living on that much acreage.
I lived on 4 acres close to the City and
thought that was big. Especially when come time for yard work. In today's world it seems
respect and common sense have gone by the way
side. Love to hear about your neighbors. Paula you are a hoot. Love to read your Post.

Keep it up, I like this Texas stuff! ha! We have a rental property. I would never again try to manage collecting rent and picking renters.
We rented for a while, the landlord could expect to find the place cleaner and in better shape when we left than when we came.
My older sister Kat had a renter that paid for their house she rented it for so long and took care of it. BUT that just does not happen too much anymore.
I don't expect it, but I do expect them to not tear it up and pay the rent.
I just cannot collect or evict, not that I believe some of the stories I was told, I just didn't have the heart to demand. That is why we pay the manager to do it. We do have one arrangement that is a beauty, this lady pays a year in advance and repairs the house. The grounds are manicured and there are hundreds of dollars of shrubs, flowers trees etc added.
can't beat that.
I would not want to be the renter when John gets fed up he sounds like he can handle it!

I only know about hunting...and of the misery they cause folks when things go wrong...so I am hoping John will be able to put a lid on this "renter" and his "gang" so nothing bad happends any way soon!!! Be careful please!!! God Bless...hugs...Ora

Was over reading about Ferns renters being a pain in the rear too. Seems most of the time renters are more trouble than its worth. I know you are glad you dont have to deal with that nonsense anymore.

The rightful hunter is lucky he wasn't shot by the renter in his stupid state of carelessness. They sound like fools, I'll bet you will be happy when the day comes that they do stretch John too far.
