Just Hangin' In The Country

We are doing good. We've been to the ranch two days in a row now. Yesterday we went out to move the wild hog trap and someone had already did that for us except they neglected to tell us where they put it. John is quite upset about that. He paid to have it built and we trapped many a wild hog in it. This is from the large ranch which John has leased for over 30 years and recently gave up and sold the cows there. Officially he still has control of it until the end of the year but has no reason to go there much since the cows have been sold and he hired Juan to haul off all the scrap iron and sell it. Lots of old irrigation pipe and wheels etc. Seems according to Juan the price for scrap has plummeted so they sold it just in time. Today he hired Juan to haul all the hay to the smaller ranch where the farm house is to keep it from dissapearing too. It will be used to feed the cattle at that ranch this winter. We talked to young new renter. How long will he have to live there before I call him young old renter. Things are going well with them. I think he and John have new respect for each other and have all the country rules understood. Crossing my fingers. We noticed that said boat was out on the bank of the cattle water tank. Young man said the boat was taking on lots of water so he has to look for the leak and fix it. He has a shiney new black Toyota truck. Remember he has gone through two trucks since he moved there a few months ago. This one has the large row of lights across the top of the cab. Humm what are those for? Night hunting? I'm sure someone will tell me. Not much going on here. I did some trimming in the back yard while it was still cool when we got home. Did a little snacking on Halloween candy. Might as well be honest its been a lot, can't let it go to waste.

I didn't have any candy left to snack on...which is probably a VERY good thing. lol.
Sorry John lost his trap. That pretty well bites. Well, I feel a nap coming on for me and Gizmo...have a good Sunday.

the lights are for many things like fog, offroading at night and spoting deer or othe animals to shoot with a camera because we know there is no hunting on the ranch.

I was just wandering, what do you do with the wild hogs? Some folk here in florida eat them. I laugh every time I see or hear of a state hog hunter. The state of Florida decided years ago to irradicate everything not indigenous to Florida. The hunters hunt on state and federal land. I am sure they leave some to procreate or purpose, probably don't have to do that. They sure can tear up some ground!
LIke the Texas entry! GET THE BOAT FIXED and enjoy an outing in the tank!

Paula you sure are good at this blogging.
I think I am up and running for now how long is the question. Jack said a few months ago I couldn't spell blog and now I have one he is so funny. You make ranching sound like fun. I have always lived in the city. You make living on a ranch so much fun I may move to Texas. That makes me mad for someone to take the trap. I always wonder how people live
with their conscious when they steal

Sounds like all is well, and by the way, I've heard Halloween candy has no calories ;-)

Hi Paula. You know if it's not tied down or nailed down it may disappear. Your renter must have bad driving habits and good credit :).....

We used to have quite a few wild hogs in Fla., not the nicest bunch of animals to try to domesticate (my stepfather had few brains cells)...I've never understood how someone could go through so many vehicles so quickly. (Hugs)Indigo

I always buy a bag of assorted chocolates for the trick ot treaters and it seems like I always try to hawk the crummier pieces off and stash a few of my favorites for later.

No way can that candy go to waste, that is my sentiment! Heck, I buy bags of candy and we've never had a trick or treater!!

Alot of guys around here have light bars on their trucks...mostly for looks and the occasional nightime off roading. I never knew they used them for hunting.
