Valentine and Two Butts

Don't you think this little calf has a valentine on it's face? Well maybe you have to use your imagination a little. Everything was so peaceful at the ranch I don't have much to write about today. There was one cow standing by the boat peering down into it as if she was thinking of getting in. We saw a new baby calf with a rat tail. That is a short tail and slick down where most calves have a longer tail and it is fluffed up on the end. Shelly Marie and Mama Twiggy were both doing fine, stopped their grazing to look at us as we passed. We stopped to talk to the renters. They have aquired another dog. That makes four now. He did fix the fence up good so maybe they can't get out of the yard to chase the cattle. The weather is beautiful here but it is so dry and everything is dead, no green in sight.

We finally got rain here last night and some today. I think that white does spot does look like a valentine on the black calf. Helen

Nice valentine you painted on the calf! LOL
I hope you have the camera when one of the cows sits down in the boat!
Renters are going to have a Pound soon.
Hope they are not all inside dogs!!! landlord'll kill 'em!(maybe) But then if they are inside they can't chase stock.

Texas looks big and lonesome in this photo, but the cows look right. I somehow always relate Texas and Longhorns. And I was always glad I did not have to chase those Texas longhorns. I have just been reading a book about cattle history and it said that at one time there in Texas very young boys were hired to drive these skinny wild longhorns to markeet far away, and one underage teen was even made a trail boss because he was so expert at his job. I didn't know that. I guess the skinny cows didn't sell for much so the cowpunchers never made enough for the job to attract the adult cowboys so they hired young boys! Gerry

Glad everything at the ranch is peaceful.
I think I see a valentine. Maybe you need
to put some paddles in the boat in case the cows would like go for a ride around the lake.
