Happy National Pie Day

Well thats what they said on the news this afternoon. Its National Pie Day. You couldn't have proved it by me. You can make mine chocolate with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Another thing I heard the flags at the presidential inaguration were made in San Antonio at the Dixie Flag Company. That was of interest to me. I needed a country road fix this afternoon since it was a pretty day and a new cool front is coming in. So we found a road we haven't been on much. We didn't find much to write about except we came to a split in the road and straight ahead was the Madre Dolerosas cemetary. John didn't lose anytime saying I'll wait in the truck. I shocked him by driving right on past and not going it. I thought better of it because there was a house next door. This gringo might stand out like a sore thumb walking around in this, I presume all mexican cemetary. Someone may think I'm in there stealing plastic flowers or something. We had never heard of this cemetary and it had many graves and is evident by the number of bright colored flowers the relatives are very attentive to this cemetary. We saw a lot of dust and cactus and dead brush and a few cows. We made a big circle and came on home. I cleaned the floor mats and rinsed the dust off the truck.

I heard it was national pie day too! Happy pie day to you as well. I don't blame you for not stopping in the cemetary - you surely wouldn't want to be blamed for stealing plastic flowers.

I have never heard of National Pie Day sounds
good to me. Glad you thought better about
touring the cemetary for fear of someone thinking you were there to get a new plastic arrangement for your table.

We were in Georgia, taking a back road, we love tromping thru Old Cemetaries!! we pulled into one OLD beautiful site tucked away in some woods barely visable from the dirt road, loads of little Rebel Flags, flowers and some magnificent Stones, shortly an old guy came walking over out of nowhere, an in that heavy southern drawl said, "ya all ain't suppoze be heaya" at which point we left, wonder if it was our New York Plates that gave us away???

I had not heard it was pie day. I might have talked Ken into making a pie since he is doing most of the cooking lately. I am sorry your adventure didn't last long today but at least you got out for a while. Hugs, Helen

Hi Paula. I finished off my chocolate pie the day before National Pie Day. Never have heard of it. Is there a "National Country Road Day"?

Too bad you didn't get to go into that cemetary. Bet it was interesting. Maybe next time around you can knock on the door of the house and ask if it's ok. Just a thought.
