It's Ole' Yeller's Fault

Ole' Yeller is the step ladder we've had since my girls were young. Now ole' yeller has not always been yellow. It was kind of a natural finish orginally. We had painted one of our rent houses yellow. Not a bright baby doo doo yellow, a subdued yellow and we trimmed it in brown. That combination of colors was kind of a fad at that time. We thought it looked pretty nice when we finished. There was an old garage at the back of the property. Leah our youngest was not old enough to get a job but she wanted some spending money so we told her she could paint that garage to match the house and we would pay her.
She couldn't wait to get started but somewhere during the painting job she decided to paint the ladder to match the house and garage. when she showed us the ladder she was beaming with pride. Mel was less then happy. He didn't desire his step ladder to be painted yellow or any other color. Mel kind of bursted her bubble but excepted it and the ladder is still yellow. Faded yellow and rickety. I think that is what did this number on my back. Thursday I climbed it several times to change high light bulbs. Not that the yellow hurt but I think the rickety did. I think it is time to retire Ole' Yeller but I'm so attached to it.

Paula, you can come up with a story at the drop of a hat. I like it. I can imagine what Mel thought of a yellow ladder. Funny how the strangest things make a good story.
Take care hope you have a good week coming up!

Good story about Ole yeller. I'm glad you finally got a tool that would open the battery cover. Have a nice day, Sheila

What a neat story! Maybe keep ol yeller and just buy a better ladder. You could set ol yeller up and place flower pots on each step, and a hanging basket on the side.

What a cute story Paula. Yes, you need to send Old Yeller to the wood pile in the sky.

Maybe you can find a way to use the ladder as decoration and keep it around as a conversation piece. Be creative! I know you can think of something to do with it that is country oriented, I mean, look at what you did with those old boots, you stuck some flowers in them and they look great! Hugs, Kelly
