We Stayed Our Past John's Bedtime

John had the water tank for the farmhouse repaired today. Sooo old it was starting to leak. We had to let the "stuff" they repaired it with dry for several hours so we drove the pasture with our headlights on bright hoping to see some wild life. All we saw was a nighthawk so we drove into town and parked in front of the convienence store to people watch while I ate some chocolate with almonds of course. I've been meaning to tell you about this odd thing I see when we go to On The Farm. Its on the interstate between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. John has never even noticed it and I have wondered and wondered about it. Maybe someone has an idea. There are two, two story houses near each other. They don't look like the two story houses you usually see and its hard to describe here but they make me think of something you would see in another country. They are far from the road in a white sandy area. The really odd thing, at least to me, is there are about four or five areas where they have four post in a square. Not ordinary post, fancy post or columns made of some sort of plaster or something similiar. They are scattered about the property and there are four of them at each location. Just four post in a square. No roof or sides or any indication that there will be. I have never heard another person in this area mention this place. When I've been in the car with another person they have never even seemed to notice. How can they not? Tonight as we sat at the store I pointed out to John there was a shelf on the side of the store. He hadn't even noticed it. How can people be so unobservant. The question to that one was solved as we sat there. A car drove up and it was a drive-thru. How neat is that? A drive-thru at the store in a little country town who hardly has anything to speak of. I told John I would love to work undercover. He said I wouldn't I might get shot. Oh no we would dress just like we are and act just like we do and who would suspect. Guess not he really likes to go to bed at seven.

Okay, now you've got our interest up. Time for you to do some investigating. I can't even imaging what the posts could mean. Take care, Sheila

You should take a picture! I'm interested in seeing that.

Speaking of mysteries, did you ever find out what those black X's on the windows from those Mexicans were from? Or why?

Two (4 post) possibilities come to mind. The first one marking grave or grave yard sites. The second thought corner fence posts once upon a time protecting a planted tree from livestock.

What was I supposed to notice?

Since the houses look "foreign" (maybe Spanish?) I would think it's a "foreign custom of sorts". PICTURES, Paula! :)..........

Sounds like you all lead a terrific life style!
My teen age years of growing up on my parents farm were the best years of my life! Hard work and clean living was so good for we 5 kids in Racine county, WI.

Please be advised that I have a new Blog title and URL address: Tom's Journal.

You and Eler Beth are definitely soul-sisters. She observes everything. Have you ever read any of the Mrs. Pollifax mysteries? You remind me a bit of her. (If you ever do, try to start with the first one and read them in order; it's more fun that way.)

What? Why should men notice that stuff. We know exactly what it is, so we ignore it. We cannot stop the aliens from beaming down using the posts, so why worry about it.
Really, you are very observant, and it makes a great Blog. That is a curious thing, the posts.
GArnett has a point!
Jack! I like this.

I'm with you Paula. I used to have to drive an hour each way to work on mostly 2 lane roads. I can almost tell you about every tree and building and animal along that route. My carpoolers seemed to be oblivious to everything.
