Happy National Pancake Day

Hope everyone had a nice one. It would have past me right by if I hadn't watched the news this morning. When Mel was alive and my girls were young we had pancakes almost every Sunday morning but they were actually crepes. It was kind of a tradition in Mel's family and they called them our last name style pancakes. When you married into that German family you learned to make them. Very simple recipe and they were so thin you had to turn them with a knife. The husband of the family would take a large tin can and bend it to make a spout on one side. That is what you mixed your pancakes (crepes) in. It became a household item that you kept forever. Anyway Ihop is giving a free short stack today and then you give a donation to a charity. Hope your pancake day has been a good one.

I love German food! I wish I knew how to cook it! I do not make a lot of pan cakes. I am not sure why, I just don't.

Sounds good, did you eat them with fruit or something else rolled up inside or did you eat them like pancakes? I like french toast too. Take care, Sheila

Missie said Fat Tuesday, funny we had donuts this morning around the fire. The crepes sound good, don't think I ever had them. I do love pancakes. I really like Perkins and Denny's pancakes. I love maple syrup also, we bought a tin of real maple syrup up in Vermont and I let the tin rust. I couldn't believe it.
I was wondering about the crepes like Sheila, do you roll them or stack them?
BTW Those were kind words and a nice card.

I love pancakes but cannot make good ones.
All the flat things I cook have started
looking ragged around the edge. So I quit
trying. I prefer to let someone else cook them. I have had a good frozen dinner day.
I don't cook much any more. I may have to hire
a chef.

Didn't know about pancake day. I've never been a fan of pancakes, they are too heavy and filling. I like crepes much better. It was fasnacht day around here or fat tuesday. Everyone uses up the lard and makes donuts!!
