Look what I found that Sugar gave me a long time ago. We went out to let the new mama cow, her calf, and one other out of the pens this morning. Seems mama was getting a little stir crazy. She pawed the ground and kicked up dust and ran at John. He didn't take his eyes off her. When he got her and the other cow out the baby was still in there and was confused as the mama and the other cow had run into another pasture. He finally got the cow and calf together and everything was coming up roses. The wind has blown here for the last several days and with it so dry the land looks quite depressing. Not much to write about but we did see one deer on a narrow country road going to his daughter's to ask her to put out two bails of hay today. The cows are eating it fast and furious. They were all out trying to scavage any piece of grass they can find. I forgot to tell Shirl that the lix tubs are a little hot so they make the cows want to eat the dry grass and there is plenty of that. John's daughter had found a parakeet in her cow pens. She said it was with some small wild birds. She was able to throw an old shirt over it and catch it. She put it in a nice tall cage and it was so thirsty. She and her mother live in an old farm house with three cats, two dogs and now a bird with goats and cows on the property.

Lucky for the parakeet to be found and now in a nice safe place. I bet the calf was happy to by mamas side again. I know they can get really crazy when their mama isn't close by.

I can't believe John's daughter actually caught the parakeet by throwing a shirt over it. I lost two parakeets who flew out the door when somebody opened it. I looked and looked but never saw them again. Drat. I was going to teach them to talk. I am glad to hear that the new animals are being introduced to their new home and are adjusting. Sounds droughty in Texas. I wish you rain. Love Sugar's cow present for you. Gerry

I am glad the cow didn't hurt John. That's great he got both mama and baby back together again. I am glad that his daughter caught the parakeet. It would probably have soon died without water. I hope you get some rain soon. Cute graphic. Helen

I lost a parakeet, a male, in 1953, could it be mine? I hear they can go a long way. I forget it's name. Check to see if it is a male. That is the only thing I remember about parakeets, If the band above the beak is blue, it is mine. Tell her to take very good care of it it is OLD! ha! I am still thrilled to know you feed the cows molasses. I love to know stuff! You are the only person who makes somethisng out of nothing. YOu make a good entry and say nothing interesting today. LOL

I am learning so much I may be able to get me
a cow but they would not let me keep it in the
City. John's daughter sounds like she has
enough animals to keep them busy. It is an
interesting variety.

How unusual to see a parakeet flying around with wild birds. A bird is just about the only animal I have never own. (Hugs)Indigo

I'm sorry to hear it's so windy and dry out there. I hope you get some rain. Wow! Found a parakeet! I'm glad she could catch it and give it a home.

That is so nice that Johns daughter caught the poor little bird and is caring for it. Wind, I know about that wind. It seems the air is never still here. We had so much wind the other day my egg sign blew down and it is on a log post! The whole thing just went down to the ground. Have to tie everything down around here or it is gone into the next county! Keep writing cause I still love to read you, every single entry. Hugs, Kelly
