Update On Cow With No Name

I couldn't go with John to the ranch this morning as I had to stay home to make an appointment with my hematologist. I've had a blood problem for about five years so I've seen him off and on during that time at the medical center in San Antonio. Early Saturday morning my primary doctor's office called to say I needed to make an appointment with the hematologist as my blood platelets are low. They have been low but stable but are lower now so I have an appointment on April 8th but I made the appointment at his office in the hill country (the pretty part of Texas) so we can make it a ride in the country too. John said when he got there the cow was up and was very unstable but had walked to the house. He said it took him a long time to drive her to the pens to put her inside so she will be secure from the other cattle with food and water. His daughter came to help him as he had stopped at the grocery store to buy a bottle of Karo syrup to get into the cow. John was shocked that the syrup cost $1.98. Sometime John still lives in the olden ages. They were able to get part of the bottle down her. John said she was so thirsty she drank lots of water. He could tell her calf had nursed. That determination is probably what got her up to go look for her calf. John's daughter is going there late this afternoon to make sure she has food and water and make her get up and walk a little. I'm sure the cows appreciate your concern, I know I do.

I'm laughing at your assessment: John still lives in the olden ages.
For $1.98-yeah ;-0. I am sure if you want or need something he finds too expensive, you just go right on and get it anyway; you are worth it. (The cow is too)~Mary

I do hope that the cow will be o.k. I could never ranch because I would want to keep all of the animals as pets!

How sweet to take care of the unnamed cow. Glad john's daughter was there to help. I would help If I didn't live so far away.
I have always wanted a baby pig for a pet
they are so cute.

I am sorry about your blood problem, glad you
are keeping it in check.

John needs to go shopping more often.

How funny that John was shocked at $1.98 for a bottle of syrup. I don't know how big of a bottle he bought, but he'd really have a shock here in SoCal if he saw our prices. I've seen syrup for almost $4.00 here.

I never really look at individual prices when shopping, but occasionally I see the individual price and it floors me. I can relate to John.

Hope the cow with no name feels better.

Will keep you and the cow in my prayers. I would be so attached to the animals, it wouldn't do for me to be a farmer.
Hugs, Joyce

I'm with everyone else, Hope the blood work comes back on the GOOD side.
Me, JImmy and John the cost of Karo is too high!!! But I would spring for it to save a cow! You always amaze me with tid bits. I would never have thought you fed some of my favorite food stuffs to cows. Molasses and Karo syrup (Light or Dark karo? LOL I preferred the light).
Hope Mrs Cow and calf are okay.

Hope your appointment in the Hill country goes well. Hopefully the cow will be fine now that she's up and about some. Have you ever been by a place call 'Grey Moss Inn' (I believe that was the name) It was down a scenic road off the main road to Bandera. My Husband and I ate there for our anniversary once when we lived in San Antonio. Have a great day tomorrow, Sheila

Glad the no name cow is better. You could name her "Gennie" for generic. Hope your blood work turns out ok, Paula :).......

I hope your blood tests come out normal and you are doing fine. Glad to hear the cow is getting the care she needs to get better. Its always something when you have animals. Always pays to keep a sharp eye out and catch these things early. Sounds like she is going to be alright. Hugs, kelly
