Another Memory Bit The Dust Today
I heard on the news today that one of my memories and a landmark in my old neighborhood bit the dust, gone forever. Just a few days ago I was commenting in Jimmy's blog about the Mission drive-in theater in San Antonio. It was in my old neighborhood but before that it was a place Mel and I went to on dates. Not long ago they still had movies there on week-ends but today its gone. I wish I had known and went there to take pictures like others were doing today on the news. One man and his son were interviewed. They said they remember watching movies there until four in the morning one time, something to do with "Planet Of The Apes". In the 50's there were many drive-in theaters to choose from on a Saturday night in San Antonio but they have all long been gone with the opening of new indoor theaters. The indoor theaters were all downtown back then. Odd how you just think something will always be there and when you see that big machinery knocking it to the ground you can't help but feel sad.

It is hard to believe no ones want to save
our past. Progress must go on. It happens
everywhere. I think it is sad.

I know a couple who went back to the place they honeymooned as a couple, 50 years previous. They spent the night on their 50 anniversary. The hotel gave them the room free when they explained what they were doing. They mentioned to me most other places they visited then were knocked down now, mordernized buildings in their place. Made them sad, but also aware that progress is needed(well, sometimes).
we only have one drive in in my area and to suppliment his income he charges for people to do flea markets there
That is so sad. I hate seeing things I remember just disappear. I have not been to a drive in in ages.

I hate to see old places that hold memories torn down.
There use to be one here in our little town but been gone for a long time now. There is still a drive-inn in Wichita and Terry Ann takes the kids to it. :) Hope you and John have a blessed week. Hugs, Janie
I can remember going to the drive in movies with Danny when we were dating...Don't think that there even is one now anywhere around here...Sad that our children will not know the fun of it all...

Hi...well I loved drive in movie theatres when I was a youngster growing up...a carload of folks got in cheaper than a single ticket to the movie costs today...sheesh!!!! and we could take our own drinks and popcorn...and sometimes we got to sit up on the top of the car to watch the movie LOL...and sometimes we saw things we weren't supposed to be watching LOLOL...thanks for a great memory...hugs..Ora

The world is changing too fast.
What a shame but that's progress, I guess. You'd think someone might come up with a retro idea and save a few.
The problem is that the land becomes so valuable, the almighty dollar lures people away from any senses they might have had.
