A Usual Country Morning

I know I take pictures of strange things. This wire has been rolled up there several years. It had been strung across an area for some renter's horses. After they left John said no more horses. He rolled the wire up and left it and the cactus edged up to it. We found three new calves this morning. Very new still had their navel cords on. Even Crooked Foot had her calf. John bought her at auction several years ago. No one wanted her so John bought her cheap and she has a good calf every year. One of her hooves is completely crooked but she deals with her handicap very well. She seems to think she is just like the rest of the herd. We have had several rains lately but not as much at the ranch as here in town. Not the type of rain that fills the stock tanks but beggers can't be choosy. We have to be thankful for any amount. The purple sage is blooming heavily so maybe we will get some more.

That is strange to a tender foot. No more horses. Is it because they are in competetion with the cattle for water and food?
I love to hear of an animalo like Crooked Foot, shows we handicapped folk can do well. Eventhough I haven't produced a calf yet. LOL
Good entry.

I wish I could send more rain your way. Good for Crooked Foot, dealing with her handicap. Have a great weekend...Sheila

I have heard that "contented" cows are the best...and crooked foot sounds quite contented!!! and around here...if you have something to get rid of...put it by the road...it will be gone by morning...it is amazing what people will pick up...and haul away...and probably use parts of it for something else...LOL...happy day to you..hugs...Ora

As soon as I saw this photo I knew that Paula must have a story to tell that not everyone would think about. Sometimes I have thought to myself I wish I was more like Paula who can make an appealing story out of almost anything so as a result never lacks for material that bring a smile. Gerry

Paula, You always have good pics to talk about. I see things lots of times and think that would be a good subject for my blog.
