He Should Have Gone With Me To Feed The Turtles
About seven I ask John If he wanted to go feed the turtles. We do have a bag of dog food and no dog. John said lets go in the morning. I can't, I have business to attend to. John is a morning person and I am a night person so he went to bed. After he had time to get a good snooze going his phone rang. I could tell who it was by the conversation. I went out to water the trees and fill the birdbath. Came back in and he was saying huh huh, naut huh and such little no sense phrases with the phone glued to one ear. I put a load of clothes on to wash and scrubbed his collars. The one way conversation went on in his bedroom. I stretched out on the couch and propped my feet on the back. Boy did I turn that ceiling fan on high and soak up the breeze while I'm listening to him respond to the caller. yeah, no, maybe, huh huh. So I get up look at the clock and note its been about two hours. He doesn't listen to me two minutes. I go in and lie down beside him to stretch out my back on my trusty Sealy Posterpedic. The voice is talking so loud I can hear a lot of the words. Nothing important just using his ear. He doesn't need to say a word, just grunt once in a while. I come in here to get online and read a few blogs. I look up at my clock the conversation is well into the third hour. Then I hear John coming down the hall laughing. He says aren't I lucky caller's battery went dead? Don't you wish you had gone to feed the turtles? We would have fed the turtles, been home, missed that call, and you would be sound asleep now.
