Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Shelly Marie Can Lip Read
We took two air conditioners out to the farm house late this afternoon thinking tenant guy would be home from work to help unload them. We drove around a little and saw Mama Twiggy out by the stock tank. She hasn't had her baby yet and she is still a little bit of a loner at times. When we came upon Shelly Marie and her baby I started talking to her through the closed car window with the a/c on. She paid very close attention. I really do think she can lip read. We drove back to the farm house and unloaded the air conditioners then we saw the girl part of the couple coming down the lane. She has a pretty new car so she was driving very slowly on the gravel and rocks. Too bad her husband doesn't take good care of his trucks. Remember when he drove his truck off into the stock tank and the time he cut deep ruts in the field. Oh well he has something constructive to do now with installing the new a/c's. The wind and dirt started blowing and in a distance it looked like smoke. The girl and I were worried as it looked like a brush fire in the back of the property. John said it was clouds moving. If I say black is black he says its white but when the fire trucks and water trucks with sirens blaring passed on the main road he couldn't deny that it was a fire.He wouldn't drive to the back forty in his car so we went to town and around and started meeting people coming back. Everyone from town had driven out to see where the fire was. It looked as if it had started on the large ranch John just gave up after over 30 years and it had jumped the road and was really burning someone elses land. There are three houses in this area so they were working feverishly to put it out. When a fire like this happens the fire departments from all the little towns and communities pitch in and help out. Mostly volunteers. We saw some wicked streaked lightening and presume either that or someone threw out a cigarette since it was so close to the road started the fire. When we started home a lady stopped us at the intersection to say we couldn't go toward town as they had the road closed as they were trying to get some horses out of a property. We turned and went another way home. They didn't need us old people in the way.

I hope nothing was hurt in the fire. Glad you had another way to get home. Take care, Sheila
I bet with all that dry weather grass fires are the norm in texas

I would be so scared Paula living where it is so hot for this reason alone.I do hope they were able to contain it quickly. It is pouring with rain here in my region of England so I will pray for you some .Take Care God Bless Kath xx
Shelly Marie is so talented! :-)
Hope they got the fire contained and hope nobody was hurt.
I know exactly where you are coming from as far as if you said black is black, he would say no its white. I imagine the grass goes up in nothing flat. I have a nephew that lives in Red Oak, Tx. At least that is where I send mail to. Is that anywhere around you? Only family in Tx. that still keeps in touch with me.
Thats excitement in a small town rural area...everyone is interested in knowing what is going on for sure. Hope the tenant gets those ac's in soon. I know its hot there.
You would think John would know better than to argue with you by now. LOL. I hope they got the horses out safely.
