I know a turtle who has a headache

We did get to go to the ranch this morning but after a full day of sunshine yesterday the tank dam was still too muddy to drive on and even to walk on. I must look for some rain golashes (bet I didn't spell that word correctly). Well how would I know it doesn't rain that much in south texas. We don't even have words concerning rain in spelling bees. Anyway I fed on the end of the stock tank closest to the pens. It was windy and cool and the water was so murky not many turtles came up. I don't think they like it when the wind blows. I don't either and neither does Susie. As I pitched the puppy food I hit a turtle hard right smack on its head. I swear I didn't mean to. It seemed to look at me and then drew it's head inside it's shell. Poor thing. Miss Kitty (aka Smokey) met us and followed us around so we gave her some of the turtles bread. John said doesn't look like the new renters are over feeding her. I must remember to take her some cat food. The renter's cats were all on the front porch in different poses of relaxation. We didn't see hide nor hair of any of the renters until ten o'clock. It was all quiet with all the blinds drawn tight. Cows are doing good but the army worms have taken a toll on their grass. We wanted to go to the back forty to check things there but the road was just too muddy. Not complaining, the rain was wonderful and we appreciate every inch.

It's windy here, too. Sounds like a nice trip even with the wind. Can't imagine how folks sleep that late unless they have a night job. Bet the turtle forgets all about it when you feed him again:)

Funny about no words referring to rain in spelling bees. LOL
Sometimes we are smart enough not to complain when we get too much of a good thing. Just accept it and be glad. You seem to be doing that without Goolashiers (? sp) And we probably have that word in spelling bees. I was good at math my self, not English or Spelling. LOL
Good entry even though you hit one in the head. LOL Sherry & Jack from NC

Don't worry about hitting the turtle on the head, I'm sure he didn't take it personally. I'm sorry to hear the kitty hasn't been accepted into the group yet - definitely have to get some kitty food!

Can turtles get concussions? Lol, I'm sure he'll be fine once the stars stop circling his head. Don't slip down in the mud...Sheila

I hope it was not Lucy you hit in th head with the bread. Her namesake felt to lousy yesterday didn't do much commenting. That is a mum plant that I got at the end of last winter and I babied that plant and I finally told Joe it was going to have to go out or it would die. So we planted it and Joe covered it everynight cause our spring got pretty cold. Then since there were buds on it it got snowed on, frost bit and it opened up.

I loved that line "We don't even have words concerning rain in spelling bees." lol Good to see you're doing well, and I love the pic at the top of your blog.

Loved the rainless words in your spelling bees. You are soooo funny Paula!! I imagine next time the turtle is hungry he'll quickly forget about the beaning by the dog food. When my cats "play" with my turtle, he hisses at them and then puts his head in his shell. They get freaked out wondering where his head & legs went, he laughs at them I'm sure.

I was thinking of you because in a couple of days or so my son Raymond is headed for Austin, Texas with Baby, his dog. I don't know how Baby will adjust to taking the show on the road, but Raymond said he could not leave her home anymore. I suggested he write a part for her. In the meantime I appreciate a person who is trained by a rancher husband to think about whether a critter is going hungry or thirsty and has such a tender heart herself even the wild creatures get her attention!
