Words

I hope the turtles slept in this morning. I always hated that phrase "sleep in". I had never heard that phrase until I was working at Sears as a PBX Operator. In the country we didn't do much sleeping in but when we did it was called sleeping late. The lady I worked with was cute and had a cute accent but when she said she would "sleep in" the next day because it was her day off it drove me crazy. Now you take the word hydroplane. I had never heard that word until later in life. Could be 'cause we lived on a country road that got so muddy the school bus couldn't make it up the hill let alone hydroplane. I like the sound of that word but it can be not so good. A lady I know bought a brand new car because she has cancer and it was hard to get in and out of her truck. The first day she drove it she hydroplaned and ended up in the bar ditch against a fence and totaled her new car. We've had lots of rain so I can't even think of trying to feed the turtles. I knew we should have gone out yesterday instead of John watching the Dallas Cowboys play. If I did get in that slop and the turtles tried to climb up the side of the dam they might hydroplane.

Wow!!! A turtle hydroplaning. Now that is a picture for the active mind. LOL The picture in the last post reminds me of our 'picture taking place'. Mother had a bush we called the 'snow ball bush' where we made all out pictures. Awww, memories............

Hey, I am trying to picture the hydroplaning turtles. LOL
Hey we saw a lot of T's today and I would sing "T for Texas," Sherry would finish it with 'T for Tennessee'. I informed her that there was no T in Tennessee cause Paula said so! (Or something to that effect) Now don't start picking my words apart, I confuse Affect and effect. LOL
As always, enjoyed the post. (John was supposed to watch the cowboys! it is sort of a law, isn't it?)

I loved that word hydroplane until I actually hydroplaned on black ice instead of rain water although I don't think they call it that if it's ice. But it is scarey. But I know we didn't have that word back in the country because the roads were so bad you could not go fast or hydroplane if you wanted to! Gerry

Lol!! Love that mental image of a hydroplaning turtle. Oh how I've missed your posts -- just didn't realize it until I got here today. I'm trying to get back into the habit of reading every day. I just really love this entry!

My folks hydroplaned and rolled their truck 7 times. They were very lucky. The turtles could hunker in and safely ride it out. LOL
