I Kept Johnny Boy Out After Dark

I get cabin fever on Sunday afternoon. Wanna hit those country roads. John wants to sit in his recliner and sleep with the TV on. Yes I could go alone and I have but that isn't as much fun saying "awww look at those donkeys", "look someone lives in that old house", "boy that man has lots of cows". Then John gets wound up and tells me I drove a combine down this road in such and such year. I farmed peanuts on that place right there. He did his thing until five and I couldn't stand it any longer. I ask "if I get my truck out will you go for a little ride with me?" Well how long? Like I would know how long. When you wind around the county then you have to drive back. Can I help it if the sun goes down? My truck is a 2006 but it doesn't have many miles on it but if I don't stay off those wash board roads it is going to sound like a rattle trap. We found a road I hadn't been on and I'm not sure John had. It was so narrow when you meet another truck you both had to move into the grass. Didn't meet but two so I could hande that. We saw lots of big oak trees, goats, cattle, pretty homes and ugly old mobile homes. We saw a few old cemetaries but it was getting too late to stop. John is getting more chicken and I'm getting braver in my old age.

I hope his recliner didn't get too cold while he was gone...my hubby does the same thing, I sneak the remote away and watch something else until he wakes up again...ha.

I have been trying one comment, if it goes good, if not. It is out in cyber space somewhere.
You can't just pick on the rancher 'cause he is getting old and likes to drive the recliner. Lot of important things to sleep on. LOL
Liked the entries.

It has become so irritating my ability for only short drives anymore. Relegated to staying within five miles of home the off chance of going further is slipping away from me. And finding or having someone take us along is rare. Have had but two offers within this last year, once we almost got started until our driving host had forgotten to take her medication along, the other more recent invitation was the most welcomed our being able to go visit our ill son.
Enjoy your drives out. Keep telling us about them with an occasional picture. your country side looks so different from ours.
So long for now

Isn't it fun to just get into the vehicle and find a road you've never driven? Sometimes you really find some interesting things.

Sounds like fun, I love when we explore the unpaved roads around our place. John just needs to stick with you...he'll get braver.

When Lee was alive we drove all the country roads. Then when Marty was born, I learned the hard way get extra diapers and an extra bottle of formula cause he would say lets go for a ride. Once we wound up in Iowa at his brothers. That was a long way. Joe and I used to go to Crete, Ne. his home town and then take the back roads home. Country girl once I think always a country girl.

Sounds like you had a nice Country Drive. I don't think we have any roads without traffic
I am tired from to much trick or treat with a
seven year old. Hope you have a good week.

Country drives are grand...that's all we do when we come to your fine lonestar state. We actually are hoping to find a chunk of land big enough to breathe on down there for the winters at least...tho I love WI, it gets mighty tough on the joints come winter...enjoy those country rides...I only pray our babygrands will have the opportunity when they are my age...from my prospective, we have lots and lots of trees...my TX brother-in-law cannot believe that he has to hunt through a 'shooting lane' about 12' wide because of all the spruce, balsams and hemlock...LOL and we come there to hunt wide open range...have a great rest of the week and weekend and Blessings Be Yours on your country travels
