Cat Haters Disreguard

This is Brownie, a cat we had when my daughters were still at home. She came to our house and wouldn't leave. I checked the paper for missing cats. I ask all the neighbors. It was just like she fell from the sky to tromp on our hearts. She married our male cat Cocoa and they produced two litters of three a year. When they were old enough I sold the kittens for $15.00 a piece. I guess you could say they were working for food. She ended up being my favorite cat. Every cat we've had was my favorite cat. Now we have Susie, spoiled as a piece of rotten fish but somewhere in the last year I had decided when Susie is no longer with us I won't have anymore pets. It would take a load off an old lady. No rushing to Wal*Mart for dry cat food or soft food for that bedtime treat she gets. No changing the smelly litter box in the garage. No trying to figure out what she is wanting when she slaps my ankles. Let her out, let her in, spend quality time with her on the front porch. Check for fleas in the summer, brush her fur 'cause she likes it. Thats what I said no more cats after Susie. Then why is this cat we named Lucky looking in our storm door? Why did we give a cat we don't own a name? Why is John telling me this cat is hungry? First I was only going to give her one small cup of food a day since she really belongs to the neighbors. Now its up to two cups. She looks to be with kitten. She used to have her litter under my storage building but would take them home to the neighbors when they were old enough to wean then she would come sleep on my chair where it was peaceful. Now that she knows which door to look in what if she doesn't take the new litter home? Do you think my neighbor would notice if I had her spayed?

LOL how cute you said the cat married the other cat and they had kittens.... what a darling entry. Sometimes I long to be pet free too. It gets to be such a chore. But we do tend to love our pets, don't we!?

I used to feel like that before our dog Jake died than we missed him so much that after 10 months we got patches and after another year we got Daisy as a playmate. So far we haven't regretted it. Might be a blessing to have that cat spayed. We have a litter of unwanted kittens roaming around here, Mom and Pop also. I have tried putting some food out at the edge of the yard for them then yesterday what did I see inside a small fenced area where I put the food. The neighbors that live behind us young Dog. I don't think they half take care of their animals. So no more food put out. We just can't feel them all. Just more cats to catch the birds. Helen

Sounds like Lucky is Lucky to have you! As for your neighbors, I wonder whether they're taking proper care of her ...

I don't think the neighbors would care if she disappeared. I have a new outside cat named Hallow (who showed up around Halloween, thus the name after All Hallows Eve), arrived when the new neighbors moved in. Hallow was skinny and his blk fur was dirty oily. When a cats fur gets like that they have given up, they don't clean themselves.

I started feeding Hallow away from the other cats, now he comes right up at the same time every day RUNNING to see me and spend some time getting pet. You wouldn't recognize him as the same cat. The neighbors know we are taking care of him and couldn't give a damn. I refuse to let him starve and be mistreated because he USED to be their cat.

Get Lucky fixed, she knows where she's loved and wanted. (Hugs)Indigo

I think Lucky is lucky to have you. I would say it's your cat if that's where she chooses to be. Apparently, she's getting what she needs from you and not her real owners or she wouldn't be there by you.
We too always say no more pets when one dies; but somehow we always end up with another. It must be our big hearts!

I think it would be wise to get her fixed. I would ask around because sometimes the shelters will do it for free,

I had my poodle Chancy for 21 years and didn't
get another one. It is just like taking care of
a child. We also adopted a cat that came to our
house and would not leave so we named him Cracker. We lived on a busy street and he got
killed. He was wild but a beautiful cat. He didn't want to stay inside. I guess I will just
enjoy my friends animals, after playing I can come home.

People don't have cats as pets - cats have people as pets. Just considered yourself burdened but blessed once again :-)

GREAT entry as usual. You can spin a tale or tail. You are a softy! I cannot believe the RAncher encourages by saying, "that cat isd hungry!"

Our pet is some kind of plastic. Sits outside the motor home and the live pets like to look it over, but they never 'marry'. LOL

Nice entry! I'd say Lucky is lucky to have found you. Spay her, obviously the neighbors don't care and probably wouldn't notice.

Keep on of her kittens for yourself. You know you want to.
