Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Slippin' and Slidin' In The Cow Pens
Cow patties and mud mixed together are really slippery especially where the cattle have tromped up and down and back and forth. When John said let me have the wheel I gladly gave it up. It was short sleeve sunny weather but it is still too messy to drive much at the ranch. Tonight it is supposed to come another cold spell. We still have the extra hay shut in the pens so we can rely on that tomorrow if its too muddy to drive to the hay yard. When we drove over the tank dam we started sliding. I could just picture us landing on the turtles but he is pretty good at getting the truck under control in wet or sandy areas but it sure gives me a fright. When I got out of the truck I could see the water was very cloudy. In fact it looked like saw dust but I know it wasn't. Probably stuff off the trees hanging over the water. I could see the head of one turtle so I started pitching puppy food trying to aim for the area in front of the turtle. The water was so murky the turtle couldn't see the food very well. Finally three more came up but they weren't having much luck finding the food so I put what I had left on the edge of the water with hopes of them finding it for their New Year's dinner.

Awwwwww, such a thoughtful cow girl. New years dinner for the turtles.
Not a cow boy but I do know that cow patties and mud make for a slick step.
Happy new year to you and John. Hope it is the best ever. May you learn to like dollar signs, when no choice is given. LOL
Take care I would like to say, it was OUR joy and pleasure to bump into you on the internet. A joy we do not take lightly.

Sherry & Jack
I am surprised that Jack didn't tell this story.
Dad took my 3rd class on a field trip. We went
to a farm so we could learn about animals. I
jump from 2nd floor of the barn into cow patties. They were not soft but just right
for me not to get hurt. He had not started to school. I think he got to ride a pony that
was not happy and fell off. Someone was holding
him on so he didn't get hurt. He tells the story all the time about me jumping into the
cow patties. Sure was fun.
Glad to get a report about the turtles.
