Eerie Feeling

This morning John and I were writing checks for bills getting ready to go pay them. When I opened my check book I turned to the front where I had jotted down the amount of one bill I pay every week and the amount of another I pay once a month. I have the name and the amount. I noticed my name above them but in line with them. Humm whats this I'm thinking? This isn't my writing and why would I put my name there? On second look my name isn't spelled correctly. It is spelled Pouline. So I ask John if he wrote my name there. Thinking he may have wrote it as a joke. No he said that isn't my writing and I know it doesn't look like his writing. In fact it is neater then his writing and probably neater then mine. Who do I know that would take the liberty to open my check book and write in it? Yes I checked the check numbers right away to see if any were missing. They weren't. They could have wrote my account number down. I don't have a crimnal mind so I don't know what they could have used it for but you can bet this makes me feel leery. I'm not unusually careless with my purse but I do leave it on the back seat at church while I get coffee and a donut before church and a few places like that where I completely trust the people. Did someone do that as a joke or were they trying to warn me I should be more careful? I'm very observant so it wouldn't have gone unnoticed in my check book or anything else that belonged to me.

Yes, that is extremely strange. I think I'd check my account regularly for a while. Or better yet, call the bank and make sure no one has tried to authorize an e-check or an automatic withdrawal from your account. Seriously.

I agree with the rest of the commenters on this one Paula.A quick phonecall to the bank ASAP is what I would be making for sure.Even if it was a prank (joke)on someones behalf.Better to be safe than sorry.I hope you find out how this happened.Good Luck.Take Care God Bless Kath xx

Mystery.. It probably is nothing. But the phone call would be my bet. Also did you say you checked the check numbers at the back also. I have heard of folks tearing out the last few checks and that would go un noticed.

The name, that is weird! and awful strange!
Hope no ill comes from it.
Thinking of you,

You know someone could have wrote all that into down and are going to open an online banking account in your name. Best to check with your bank to see if anything usual happens the next few days and have them notify you if it does. I hope someone was just trying to warn you not to leave it so accessible in the future. Strange your name was spelled wrong. Helen

Makes me eerie just reading about it. I think I'd keep a close eye on the account for a while.

I'd notify the bank right away. Maybe even have them close that account and start a new one.

Oh my, What an eerie feeling just reading this.
It makes me realize to watch my purse more carefully...I would do as others have suggested tho to be on the safe side. That's a horrible thing to happen. Hugs and prayers that it ends at the misspelled name and no one is up to shenanigans...
