This is the cemetary this year here in south Texas where most of John's people are buried. This is mostly Indian Paintbrushes, some bluebonnets, and some other wild flowers. I like to think God made these beautiful flowers in memory of the dead. Notice the iron fence around a grave in the middle of the picture. When I see these old markers for graves it reminds me of a baby crib. You will see a few of these in almost all old cemetaries around this area. Maybe only the affluent could afford them or maybe they are the oldest graves and they stopped useing them.

I hope you are having a nice weekend. It is thundering and lightning here, but it's needed. Take care, Sheila
There is a grave similar to that one near here in a triangle of a road. Hope you got some of this rain without the tornatic activity. Helen
Love the country tales of ghosts and graveyards, okay cemetary. I have requested no fence, I might want to get out!!!!
As far as I know, there are no fences in our families. Ha!
Breathtaking. Wonderfully perceptive describing the iron fences as cribs. I will always think of that description whenever I see them now. (Hugs)Indigo
I LOVE THE WILDFLOWERS. sam
I too, love the wildflowers. It is beautiful! Also like the prickly pear picture you have at the top. ;o)
We have family buried in old cemetery's and some of the headstones are amazing. Love the wild flowers.
Love the wild flowers - I have always wondered about this "fence/gates" around plots in old cemetaries too. Thanks for visiting me and for the birthday wishes :)
Very beautiful. Your pictures make even a graveyard look inviting!
Best,
Marty
Oh my, what beauty surrounds Tx in springtime. I'm sure the deceased appreciate them too. Sad if that fence means a child had died. I like it better if it meant it was just the way they used to bury the dead. Gives me a warm chill.
Bless Your Week Paula
Places like this are so peaceful -- even looking at the photos gives me that feeling.
What a serene, beautiful place. I'd like to think that God decorates these graveyards, as well.

why are there fences around cemeteries?
people are dying to get in
I know
bad, old joke
but, I couldn't resist
This is a lovely cemetary, the kind of place I would like to be buried.
Oh, this is so beautiful, so apropos for a cemetery. Couldn't be better.
