Susie Earned Her Keep

When I was going over my check list in my mind ( sun glasses, camera, coffee mug, turtle food) yep got it all this time. John came inside to tell me Susie had killed a rat. I didn't believe him, he teases a lot. You mean as in rat with a long tail? He was getting aggravated so I went to look. There huddled against the wall is a biiig rat with a long tail. When I stepped closer I saw it was still breathing. Susie walked up to it and looked at it and then at me as if to say "see what I did Mama?" The rat revived and ran toward me. I jumped two feet screaming its alive and ran one direction and Susie ran the other direction thinking she had done something wrong. John just happened to have a hammer in his hand to take with us to repair a fence. I had to turn my head away while he finished Susie's job. I bragged on her and told her she done good just in case there are any rodent relatives around.

Way to go Susie!

She was trying to teach you how to hunt -- because she's never seen you catch supper before. Susie's just worried you'll starve.

I know what you mean about jumping to get away from a rat. Susie saved the day, (at least I think she accomplished cornering the rat) even if John had to finish the job. Ugh

Atta girl Susie!!!! Next time she will finish the job!
Now, not another word about John, he saved your life!!!
I hope you were in shape, and remembered the inventory of needs before heading for the ranch.

PS
John knew the rat wasn't dead, that is why he had the hammer.

A rat that came back to life! Our good mouser finally got a rat that had plagued our house for over two years. It would even carry up corn cobs and the like and eat them off my sisters' bed. They would wake up and yell because the rat had been there! That cat deserves appreciation when a rat gets the run of the house and won't leave and she takes him out!
