Out West

West of Charlotte that is. After visiting John's sister a while we decided to drive west to see if we could observe any of the new oil activities. The first gravel road we turned on we found one of the sites that has been started but no drilling yet. They really spend some money on those places they lease. Nice white graveled road, big wide entrance way with a good wide double gate. All cleared around the site and beside the road and a good drainage system. Once they start I guess they don't want any problems. We discovered we only had half tank of gas so we made a circle and went back into Charlotte. I don't know why deer and turkeys were out in the middle of the day but we saw several of each . It is still hot here even if it is November but not the beating hot we have in August so maybe the animals are liking it. We went to the ranch to see if Shelly Marie had shown up but she hadn't. Not to worry as all the cows were not up. There is still some water in the dry creek bed and they like the shade of the big oak trees to rest under. Those cows will drink that muddy creek water. Two more warm bodies graced the stock tank in the form of geese. As Toon said it does look like a nice buffet for coyotes.

When ever you post about Charlotte...my mind thinks..."Hey, she's just down the road in Charlotte, NC...!!"
Hope Shelly Marie's OK and shows up soon....

Enjoy

Keep a shotgun handy for the coyotes. A little birdshot ought to keep them wary.

Well I guess there is an out west to the 'out west'.
I hope Shelly shows up with twins! Keep us posted on the oil situation. I hope they drill a lot and find the largest deposit in history!

As long as they don't mess eith the cows and turtles (and ducks) of course.

While we need oil -- we also need turtles and turkeys and, yes, even coyotes. I hope the drilling disturbs as few of them as possible.
