Not A Boy Scout But Know How To Start A Fire

Well we didn't quite start a fire today but it was close and has happened before. After we put out a bale of hay we loaded another to take several miles to another small ranch where John and his daughter have cattle. The bale was kind of mishapen so the hay rode partly on the tire. The constant friction can cause a fire so we had to drive very slowly and stop to check several times but we made it and the cows are all fed. "The Looker" is getting braver, she comes into the area where the hay is with the other cows but she sure doesn't trust us or take her eyes off us. That girl can stare. Happy is learning to eat the mineral in the tubs. She is still so little the tub almost engulfs her little body when she bends down into the tub. Shelly Marie and Noel are doing well out with the herd. I took turtle food but it was so cold and starting to drizzle so we didn't go on the tank dam. One of these days in the near future it will go back to usual south Texas weather and I will get to reunite with my precious turtles. Renters still have the geese and ducks in the yard and use the storage shed to keep warm. Maybe they are glad they aren't in the cold water. The renters decided to have a bon-fire with their old couches today. Good choice! It was drizzling so not so much danger of starting a grass fire and the yard needed to be cleaned up.

Hmmm ... a bonfire of old couches ... now that would be something I'd like to see!

As a very little kid, I once licked the mineral block in the cow pen. Never did that again.

Upholstered furniture makes an awesome fire! I burnt up an old recliner once ... then all I had to haul to the dump were the metal pieces.

I'm so glad we don't have the renters (AKA hoarders) any more. I don't even miss the rent money.

Yeah I can understand the fire/tire friction thing. It would be no fun.

I hope you get the normal weather soon also so it will spread across the gul, we want some normal Florida weather also.

\(Of course folks all over want some decent weather!)

Sounds as if the herd is doing fine, and my fav, Noel, as well. No turtles yet, but they know you're there waiting on them. Glad the tire didn't spark a whole different story. I'll gladly trade weather with you but If you'd like some of the snow Paula, just pop on over to see Mel and I...we have lots, and we share.
