"The Looker"

Sorry this picture is lopsided. It didn't lay flat on the printer. You think of cows as just cows but some of them really do have different personalities like people do. TheLooker is one of those. First let me say she looks like a bull in this picture and I don't know why that is because I assure you she is a Mama with a baby. She never takes her eyes off us and she never turns her back to us. She is getting tamer that she comes up with the herd but she still keeps her eyes on us at all times when we are anywhere near her. One of these days John is probably going to leave me at home as I spot too many things that need to be done. Today I noticed the metal roof on one corner is coming up on the farm house. We have had so much wind lately and a few more could just peel it back. So repairs are on the agenda for tomorrow. When we told the renters they said they tried to climb up there to put some tires on it to hold it down and the man almost fell off. Humm wonder why they didn't just call? They did call to say a cow was down by the house. John gave her cubes and was able to get her up. Later in the evening she was fine when we put her in the pens to baby her and feed her often. She was fine enough that she could run everywhere and not go in the pens. John used Ole Blue as a horse to round her up and I had a cream puff job standing in the gates flailing my arms around and telling her which way she was supposed to go. We stopped to buy pipe and now have water running out to the pasture for a few days to grow some green grass in an area. This afternoon the cows were all gathered around the water drinking out of the little puddles and out of the pipes. Odd they will drink the muddy water out of the dry creek bed but were enjoying this fresh water so much. I guess cows will be cows.

I guess cows are all individuals too...just takes a keen, experienced eye to see that. You may have to branch out from turtle whisperer to cow whisperer too.

Once a cow, always a cow! lol It must be the fact that I was raised on a farm but I love cows.

We enjoy learning about cowgirl stuff. It is interesting how you are able to pay attention to details. Probably saves a lot in the long run.
Love sent from the colder part of the country. Not as cold as some, but cold enough for us.

To bad "The Looker" couldn't keep a better eye on your tenets!

I relate to her. Sometimes it's very educational to just watch...

Looker is a Looker, all red and aware. I love them bossies. I remember many times helping Uncle Merlin (I called him Uncle John), with the milking, feeding the calves, gathering the eggs. He was the full-time farmer/school bus driver for as long as I can remember. Miss him.
As for drinking muddy waters, have had to do that on occasion but always opt for the clean stuff pouring out of the pipes. Great entry and thanks for the stirring up some fond memories of my Uncle 'John.'

I like Looker ~ she is the Mona Lisa of cows. I agree that they each have personality. The buffalo & watusi are all different as well. I always wonder why they go for the dirtiest mud hole to drink from too.

I like the "looker". She seems like an interesting sort. How are the turtles?
