Missing Rattlesnake

As we went through the east gate all eyes were searching out the dead belly up rattlesnake we killed yesterday. Go heavy on the WE after all I am the one who spotted it. No snake in sight. Whoops did we just think it was dead? John says there is an old saying if you leave a rattlesnake belly up and when you come back it is right side up it will rain in three days. Boy! Do we need that rain. Looking around we spotted another snake across the lane stretched out with it's head in the tall grass. We thought for sure it was the dead snake's mate. As we jumped from the truck John grabbed his trusty metal pole. On closer inspection it was the same snake. Something had drug it and ate a little piece out of it. Probably not a wild hog, there wouldn't have been anything left. Had to be something large enough to drag the fat snake but something that could get filled up fast sooo we left the snake there for some animal's late night buffet tonight.

John is a heckuva lot braver than I am.
I'm even afraid of the picture of the spider on your blog.....

I'm glad to hear the snake was indeed dead. I would freak out if I had rattlers around here! I get worked up & crazy over a black snake and they aren't poisonous. Eeeeek...gives me shivers thinking about it.

Whooo...I would have been jumping into the truck instead of out of it!
Glad you found the snake.

Snake on my totem or not, I get the Heebe jeebes around them.

It's done nothing but rain for the past two weeks in NY. The forecast claims we're in for more this coming week as well. (Hugs)Indigo

If it had help turning over, does that still count toward the rain? After all, you and John didn't turn it over. Have a good Easter Sunday.

Hope the rain charm works...we all need it! The only thing I know for sure about rattlesnakes is...I don't like 'em!

I think we're getting all the rain from your snake kill. You can have it back any time!
