Do You Believe Old Adages?
I've mentioned this one here before and I do want to believe it. I used to believe it because it seemed to come true but other times it didn't. The sage bushes in our area are in full bloom. There is not room for another bloom and they are beautiful. The adage is when they bloom it will rain in two or three days so in that case it should come a down pour. Even the sqraggly one in my front yard has some blooms. I didn't use my head when I planted it. It gets too much shade and water from the air conditioner. Sage is a native plant and loves the hot sun and the dry weather. John just came in from watching the weather man on TV and he says it isn't going to rain for seven days. Who shall I believe? The sage or the weatherman? Another adage a deceased friend of mine used to always repeat to me. You can tell a man by his shoes. So I'm watching the man who wants to be our new preacher. His shoes are always perfect. In fact I look down a lot and watch shoes. Maybe I shouldn't because I have to wear Earth shoes or tennis shoes, something with support. Maybe I wouldn't like people to judge me that I don't wear pretty little feminine shoes. What do you think? Any adages you like or believe?

well, we had 3 sage bushes here in NE Tx when we first moved here. i remember them blooming, but don't necessarly remember rains afterwards. as a matter of fact, one year in a drought, we lost all 3 of them...
hmmm. i do still think about the 'red sky in morning; sailor take warning. red sky at night. sailor's delight'. i give it credence whether it's is deserved or not. :)
I am sitting here and cannot think of a single addage, but I know mama used a lot of them and I draw a blank. I do believe red sky at night sailor's delight. That seems to be true.
Oh yeah, around here, if the acorns are plenty ful, we are going to have rough winter. And I don't know wether I believe it or not. Because I forget to check. hahaha
Good one. Happy fourth!!
I think I would put as much faith in the sage as the weatherman but never had much faith in weathermen...I think they just don't teach "south Texas" in weather school. My uncle used to tell me; Never trust a man that your dog doesn't like...seems to bear merit. Hope your sage is right Paula. We all sure need a good rain. John Wingo
First timer to your blog. Very nice. I'm going to join you. I'm with the other two about the red sky...I do believe that one is true. Also, in MN. we do watch how much the squirrels eat as a way to predict how harsh the winter will be.
My daddy always said, if it rains on the first day of the month, it will rain 15 days that month. It would happen just about every time. I would stick with the sage blooms and pay no attention to the weatherman.
BTW, I love Earth Shoes and wear tennis shoes too. :) You can't beat that!
a chain is as strong as its weakest link
Paula I have always believed that you can judge a man by his shoes ~ :O)
don't know about the rain though ~ Ally x "Ally Lifewithally"

I think so as not to be disappointed I would believe John and the weatherman. I would be so afraid of fire. In fact I thought I heard there was a fire somewhere in Tx. on the news. Watching shoes, huh???? OK, but I don't like to wear shoes now cause my feet don't like it.
"You can't tell a book by it's cover".....I find the same can be said about people.....some of the best dressed are the nastiest....!!
Enjoy
I hope "what goes around comes around" is true. I really do.
