No Where But South Texas

We headed out late yesterday intending to go to my hometown to drive around but John wanted to take a shortcut so we did. We weren't sure where we were so when we saw a lady walking her dogs John wanted me to stop the truck so he would ask her a question about which way to go. Imagine that, a man asking which way to go and especially John? We ended up having a long conversation with her finding out she is from Florida. She skirted my question of how did she like south Texas compared to Florida. I imagine she was wishing she was at a Florida beach that very minute. Anyway she told us not to go the direction we were headed as whe would end up in cul-de-sacs which ever road we took in that direction. We've been there and done that so we turned around and headed in the direction she told us. As soon as we were out of her sight John said Oh she don't know what shes talking about take the first road to the right. Okay boss man I'm just the driver. When we turn right I'm thinking this road is sure narrow, looks like maybe a private road but he doesn't agree. There are mail boxes as far as we can see so I continue and the road gets narrower and narrower until we come to an end. A closed gate straight ahead and a closed gate to the right. Then he decides we better turn around and proceeds to tell me how to do that. I don't have an owl neck so I turn the way I can see the best so as not to knock a gate down. What difference does it make we're out in the boonies. As we start back down the road that looks like a lane John says wonder what happens if you meet another car. Humm I kid you not there is no where to pull over or pass a car. There is room for one car only and the sand is piled up several feet high on each side with a fence in the sand. Hummm now just what do these people that live here do when they meet in the middle of the road? Does one of them have to back all the way out and start over when the other car gets out? Weird! I told John they must all call their neighbors and say I'm coming down the road so don't back out of your drive-way. Oh my gosh no where but south Texas.

I believe Helen was being a smart aleck!! hahaha
I don't have an 'owl neck' either, but I never thought of calling it that. I have learned something. I think the older you get the less your neck moves!!!

Love you side bar and topper.

That's a funny story Paula...and it does make you wonder what folks do when they meet up on that road. Maybe it's use is supposed to be by reservation only!John W.

Those kind of things happen around here too...which is why I stopped my aimless driving a long time ago.

I can use owl neck that is funny. I always

Be careful when you let the Boss Man in charge.
Brother John is a funny person. LOL

Lol John has to do it his way, huh?

Yeah, I wouldn't want to get caught on that road with another car either.
