Happy Diez Y Seis

No I'm not Mexican but in south Texas you get to know about the Mexican culture so today we ate tamales at little tables with small sombreros in the center for center pieces. When I was growing up we used to go to the Cinco De Mayo and Diez Y Seis celebrations to watch the festivities from the back ground. Watch the dancing and admire the bright costumes. Spin the wheel to try to win a prize and eat a taco and drink a Big Red. The 50's were the days.

I am sure your Mexican celebrations were exciting! I love the lively music and flamenco dancing. Feliz celebracion y muchos mas.
I am with you...the 50's were great!

As I read previous entries, I can see the dry ground everywhere in your words. Still praying for much rain for your drought land and that the cows do not have to be sold off. What a hardship.
It's good to have a celebration to go to. I'm sure it helps divert attention off the cracked, sandy soil. Stay safe and cooler than days past.

I still have two boxes of confetti eggs from when we lived in Texas. One I bought and one my daughter made in school. They have survived all the moves since...ha. Take care, Sheila

I've eaten at a few Mexican places & then I ate at a Mexican family's home. BIG DIFFERENCE. The latter was much, much better...& totally different.

Oh, wow, I haven't had a Big Red in forever. Kinda forgot about it, actually, and it used to be my favorite. Big Red or White Lightning. Those were the days.....

Shoot! If I'd known I would have bought some Coronas!

Pauline, I would never have thought of you and White Lightning, but maybe I am thinking of something else. Hope your back is feeling better.

Sounds wonderful and now I'm craving Tamales! We can't get them anywhere here, homemade is the only option!

While catching up a bit here I was glad to hear you got a little rain - hopefully that's a sign of more to come soon!!

I've missed you - It's good to be back :-)

I wouldn't mind having a taco or 2 but the good ones are so expensive so I make them when we have them but that is not often because I get shakky when I have to have everything come together so quickly.

Paula I think one of your turtles was in
my backyard. I tried to talk to it and ask
where he was from. By the time I got dressed
so I could go outside he was gone.

If I see him again I will question where he is
came from. Hope yours are doing well.

Paula I have no idea what I will cook first. I will have to look at it and I won't want to get it dirty. So whatever I have must not spatter or spit on my stove.

Paula, Hope you are well and feeling better than I am. I have hay fever, coughing and achy breaky head. Take care.
