Ya Win Some, Ya Lose Some
John lost some this morning, $300 worth of propane to be exact. He let me off at the tank to feed the turtles while he went to burn pear (thorns off cactus for cows to eat). I noticed the smell of gas was quite strong within a few minutes. I thought it was strange I could smell it from that far but thought it was the weather. After feeding the turtles a few minutes I looked up and it looked like fog had settled over the water. Little did I know it was the propane. When I heard the truck coming my way so soon I knew something was wrong. When he tried to hook the pear burner up to the propane tank something went wrong and he couldn't get it shut off so he drove off and left it spewing like a volcano. John called the propane man and he was to meet us back there in an hour. We could see the gas spewing from the highway as we drove off. When we came back before an hour was up the propane man was just driving down the lane. He fixed the problem and refilled the propane tank. John was disgusted and out of the mood to burn pear so we're home and in front of the TV and computer. Old people should know when to hang up their hat and call it a day.

Poor John...
But...it could have been worse...no one was hurt...
Enjoy
i hate it! such a waste! but, yes, at least it didn't ignite, explode or anything!
Oh no! I'm so sorry. Just thankful you and John are ok!
Sounds scary. Sorry for the monetary loss but it could have been a disaster.
Yeah, you are right, we should know when to call it a day. But sometimes it is hard to do. I was feeling bad about losing a few gallons of propane to a leak on the coach, but now I don't feel so bad. That is expensive and it hurts!!!!
Oh well at least the turtles got fed.
Good entry. WOW
Oh boy, $300.00 just gone with the wind. That hurts.
John may be like my cowboy brother, just loves what he does, no quitting in sight.
Young people should do that as well sometimes.
Now, from what you have said about John, that must have made him almost cry.
foo
Days like this one can leave you feeling old and out of sorts!( Even when you're noT)
How true. John sound like he reacted about like my Joe would have. Had to be disgusting though.
A dangerous and expensive loss. The last time we filled our tank was a little over $300 and I'm sure it's gone up sense.
OMG! With cloud of gas enveloping me, I don't think I'd even had gotten back in truck. Any ignition spark or exhaust pipe flame, I'd been hurrying my walk just as fast as I could go, as my sprinting days are long past.
Poor John...
