John Is From Mars

We went to Poth to buy cattle feed as soon as John got home from burning pear. He has hired the big renter boy to carry the propane tank behind him while he does the burning. So he can burn more and not get as tired. John's old dirty work truck key dings when he leaves it in the ignitation and turns the motor off so when he went into the feed store he threw the key up on the dash board. The key slid down between the dash and the windshield. John couldn't get it out even using several different things to stick down trying to pry the key out. No luck! Cold in the truck! Panic! This is where John is from Mars comes in. If I make a mistake I figure it's my baby, Take responsibility. Call someone, call the Ford company in next town and see if they can make a key and bring it. Pay the price and learn from it. Call a wrecker and let them haul the whole kit and kaboddle, truck loaded with feed home. Pay the price and learn from it. John doesn't like dollar signs when they are going out so he goes into the feed store and asks for help. I'll bet a dime to a donut he told them I threw the keys on the dash. A young man came out with him. By that time the key has fallen completely out of sight. Young man tries to figure it out and works with a long wire to no avail. They finally decide to go ahead and damage the strip along the dash but when he starts prying with tools the strip pops right off and he is able to retrive the key with no problem and the strip went right back on with no tell tale sign of removal. We thanked the man profusley. John should have given the man a tip but he didn't. John thinks he gives them enough business. Yes he does but the man may not be the owner or the son of the owner, he may just work for wages.

At last, I was beginning to think I was the only "John, the Martian" on earth. Some of the older trucks I've had were equipped with pretty big vents in the top of the dash for the defroster and those vents were known to gobble some pretty fair sized objects...I finally learned! I'm glad y'all found a good Samaritan!

MEN will be MEN. Stubborn as can be. Never owning up to mistakes. Tis true. Glad he had help resolving the situation he found himself in. IMHO he should have given the fella who got the job done, fishing those keys out, a tip. Especially this close to Christmas. Hope you and your loved ones have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR. Take care.

That was wierd that the keys landed in a position to go down that spot. So he is from Mars, eh!!! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year. Thank you for the kind comment on my Day to Day blog.

Te same thin happened to me one night having an argument wih my girlfriend. I threw the keys on the dash of my 86 Thundrbird and they went into the little breathing hole on the dash.

I fished and fished and finally got them out as my girlfriend howled with laughter. It changed my mood and we both laughed and made up.

Two lessons learned!

Merry Christmas to you, John, the cows, turtles and other critters.
