Laughing @ My Header Picture

I tried to download a header picture for ages last night and again this morning with no luck. Fianlly I just clicked on this cow and calf and low and behold it went but only the tail end with the calf nursing from the back end. Oh well it is kind of a strange Christmas this year anyway. One of my daughter's father-in-law passed away last week. Her ex-husband's brother passed away this week. Its a rainy dreary day but I'm going to be thankful for the slow soaking rain which we so desperately need. John and I went to the Stage Stop for breakfast this morning and besides us fools there were only two other customers. An AT&T man and an oil field man. We decided our best bet was to come home and stay put in this weather. So dangerous with the Christmas traffic and slick streets. John is in front of the TV and me the computer with the police scanner on. So far an eighteen wheeler has the highway blocked south of town from a mishap, an 81 year old man has died, and a funeral has ask for help with their possesion because of the weather. I wash everyone a safe trip in their travels and us too when we go to San Antonio tomorrow.

I hear ya, Paula. It's rained all day, rained yesterday, rained the day before and the night before that. We're getting downright soggy around here but I don't dare complain!

Frankly, I think your new header is a sorta cool!

Have a great Christmas!

I had to add a comment about your comment on one of my pics. You don't know what a sweet gum tree is? Can't believe it. I guess that's the difference between South Texas and East Texas. The two areas are worlds apart. What do you think they did before Double Bubble? Picked sap off a sweet gum tree, put in their mouth where it immediately turned to powder but with a little spit it finally congealed into gum. Sorta eucalyptus tasting. It was the chewing gum that you put on the bedpost overnight. You could chew it for weeks. When it got hard overnight and you stuck it in your mouth the next day, it immediately turned back into that god-awful powder, but once you got a good spit going, it was gum again. If you were really lucky, you had a stretchie berry bush nearby. If you peeled the berries (teeny-tiny little things) down to the third inner layer (the outer ones were poisonous or so they said) and tossed about a hunert of them in with your sweet gum, it made the gum really pliable and you could blow bubbles! Now I remember that. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Hope you have a safe trip to San Antonio. I really enjoyed my time living there years ago when my son Nick was born. We lived in Converse, just outside of the city. I remember visiting so many wonderful restaurants there on the loop around the city. So glad to hear you are getting some much needed rain.
