we've been up among the trees

I wanted to go for a ride this afternoon. John always says go where I want since it is my truck and gas. I headed the way I wanted to check out some roads between here and San Antonio but John always suggests somewhere else other then where I was heading. Par for the course today. He suggested going over a new bridge we have been planning to drive over. It's on a road named after our town, Pleasanton, and was years ago the way people traveled from San Antonio to our town before the interstates. The bridge was higher then the old one and when we looked to the side we realized we were even with the tops of the trees. Nice bridge but it leads to an area where they have sold one or two acre tracts and you know what can happen were there are no restrictions. It looks like a grave yard for trailer houses and cars. Cars that need the attention of some of the shade tree mechanics who we saw working in their yards. Dogs were running everywhere. I wanted to stop to take a picture of an old shed that someone had painted red, white, and blue with a Texas star on the side. When several large dogs ran down the drive-way I though better of it. Don't let me come off as hollier then thou in this entry. There is nothing wrong with trailer houses or shade tree mechanics but I do believe when God permits a person to own things we should take care of them to the best of our ability and when they are past that, tear them down and dispose of them.

a very good policy, as it can get out of hand really quickly...and does...

I totally agree about taking care of things. I know our landlord is always praising us about how we keep their house up. I guess they must have had some pretty bad renters in the past. We been here almost 7 years and they haven't raised our rent and I love this house and where it's located. They don't want us to get our house built, they don't want us to leave, lol.

your title, We've been up among the trees, it made me wonder, now where is Paula taking us today.
I love coming here. It's always a good place to be, for you shoot from the hip and tell it like it is.
I totally agree, Take care of what the Good Lord has given. Thanks for the peek above the trees.

I too would have thought better to stay and take a pic Paula.I agree on the repair subject, have to say on Wendy's comment.I have lived in a couple of rented houses in my lifetime. bult them up myself to look top quality, but it doesn't always pay,to do this.I almost re-built one and then the Landlord decided to phone me give me 2 months notice to sell.I had been a tenant their for 5years Grrrr. Many Landlords will not do repairs at all,so why do they rent out in the first place. We are supposed to keep our side of the lease but they don't.I woulld haveliked to see that pic.Have a great Monday.I am in a hurry this morning app to attend.Take care God Bless Kath xx

As always, a good read. All of us love to come here to see what you will come up with next. However I see a little of LUCY sneaking in about John. YOu GIRLS are so lucky to have us boys. hahahahaha.

There are trailers that are 50 years old that still look good, and some not 3 yrs old that look like it is time for the loaders to come in. Florida is like that a lot. We have a trailer right beside the RV park that we walk by and I want to go over and 'FIX IT UP!'
Good entry.
