Rattlesnakes Are Moving In Our County.

John's daughter has killed two in her yard so far this spring. The ranch farm house is well known to have rattlesnakes around it. When we lived there for fourteen months I kept the yard moved and trimmed low and we never saw one in the yard. Who ever cleans the front yard when the renters move needs to be very careful as they have let the grass grow and have junk around. Two previous renters have found a rattlesnake by the front step. A lady we know was bitten a few years ago by a young snake when she was moving a stepping stone. She almost died and her cat did die from the bite it got before her. I try to always look down on the ground before I step out of the truck and I don't step out onto the back porch without turning the light on as every year they are found even here in town. I wish everyone where there are rattlesnakes safekeeping.

i'm grateful they're not known to be in this area of NE Tx. we have copperheads and mocassins galore, though.

We've got them all here...rattle snakes, coral snakes, copperheads and cotton mouths...and it's breeding season for them all too. I'm trying to stay alert and praying I don't get to close to any of them! Hope you stay safe too!

I'm very cautious about snakes because they're everywhere. Rattlers scare the jeeters out of me.
When I lived in San Angelo there was a snake in my kitchen once - fortunately it wasn't poisonous.

I HATE snakes. From the time I saw a copperhead when I was a kid until now, I cringe at the site. A couple years ago I sat down on a cement step out in the yard and one slithered right past my feet. It must have been 5 feet long. SCARED me to death. STAY SAFE. Try to avoid close encounters. TAKE CARE.

I ain't liking me no rattlesnakes!
We have learned to live with the rest, Sherry has gotten so she will step over the garden, green or black snakes and keep on going, BUT I DO NOT LIKE NO RATTLERS!

Take care and be careful yourself!!!

Lupus runs in my family, I'm lucky with no symptoms, my Aunt lived with Lupus for 94 years, Rattlers are nasty, Lucky up here the snow and freezing winters kill them off but they have found Timber Rattlers rarely in the Adirondacks. Watch out for snakes!!

I hate snakes. Any and every kind.
Get yourself a box of mothballs and scatter them around your house. They are a deterrent to snakes. The only thing that is recommended for them. John's daughter should do that also.

I meant to scatter them around outside.

I would freak out if I saw a rattlesnake! It bothers me that I have to deal with the occasional black snake and they are nothing compared to a "rattler". Gives me the heebie-jeebies!

Any kind of snake would scare me. I haven't seen many snakes, mostly road kill and that is enough for me...lol.. Be careful.

People around here say that there are no rattlesnakes this far north and east, but lately there have been at least three found in the state forestry not far from us. They may not be indigenous to our area, but they are here nonetheless. Cotton mouths and copperheads are what we have to watch out for when we move things around in tall grass. You be careful!

I had a close encounter with a snake this week. I went to pick up a twig that was in a flower bed under our oak tree and just as I reached down, there was a big rustling and a strike and then I saw it: a big (at least two inches in circumference) and long (coiled several times) black snake. As I jumped back and yelled, he started uncoiling and acting like he was going to climb the tree (ivy grows around the base of the tree and up the trunk about five feet so he could hide in it). I didn't stick around to see what kind he was or where he went. My mom said he was probably a chicken snake. Whatever, I don't want to see him again!

P.S. I like your new flower pic on your header.
