Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Singin' In The Rain
We had more rain last night, so much appreciated to start the summer coming up. We can't get to the stock tank but know it is probably running around as we knew it was full from the last rains. We went by John's daughter's place on the way home and as we were walking out John was walking in the grass instead of the walk-way. As he started to put one foot in front of the other he saw a snake coiled up. He let out a yell and his daughter went for her gun. It looked like a rattlesnake but on closer inspection it was just a rat snake and was alredy dead. Probably killed by the Mama cat who has four kittens near their side door. She brings a rat from the barn every morning for her kittens. We went home a different country road to check out the cotton field. There are puddles that look like small lakes. I was so surprised to see two ducks beside a big puddle/lake that looks like the Whistler ducks on The Runaround Ranch Report blog. I don't think I've ever seen those here before but they sure are welcome.

I don't have many memories of living in Texas, with exception of the daily rattle snake kill, lol. I would have screeched, too. Glad no one got hurt.
Hopefully Texas won't be near as dry this summer as summers in the past. Glad that wasn't a rattlesnake. Smart cat to kill it. I hope she doesn't run across a poisonous snake and get bit.
YAY! glad you got to see some whistlers! and hurray for good rains, too!
Terrific news of the rain...and the whistlers! I envy you and TX.
Hope the cat never comes face to face with a rattler and gets bitten.
We also got a dousing here in North Carolina. I think it has slowed now. today was rain free but clouds threatened.
Glad it was not a Rattler!
An interesting life going on there! sandie
Oh my anytime I even here the word snake I run for the hills. You would think living in the country I would be better than I am. Glad it was already dead and no one was hurt.
My mama kitty had kittens but she has them hidden in a shed about twenty yards are more from my house so I have not seen them yet. Wish she would let me see how many she had. lol
Hope your well
Love
Maggie
I do NOT like snakes, period. My mom likes to chop 'em up with a shovel when they start messing with her. It is NOT a pretty sight. Glad the rest of your walk was delightful.
great that you are getting rain. It must be pretty hot there by now.I could not deal with a cat that brings a rat any where near my line of vision.
