Turkey Day
No not Thanksgiving but we could have shot a turkey if we wanted to or two or three. No we didn't want to and it isn't the season if we wanted to. Just saying the wild turkeys were out today. We saw a flock this morning at the ranch and they didn't even have to fly over the fence. There is no fence yet at the back forty but the wire is all laid out so it shouldn't be long. I think if the turkeys want to fly over that fence they will have to make a running start to get high enough to go over. The fence builder had kept his promise and fixed the road through the dry creek bed. Now if it will just stay there. When it rains a lot and hard it washes down hard at that spot. We appreciate it anyway and will tell him when we see him again. This afternoon we went for a country drive and saw another flock of wild turkeys cross in front of us so I stopped the truck even with them and they didn't run, just walked on their merry way. Of course I had to count them and there were nine.

Turkey is always good whatever the season. Glad that guy doing the fence kept his word.
We see wild turkeys once in a while out in the country. OF COURSE you had to count them. You wouldn't be Paula if you didn't. Hope your road stays. We got more rain yesterday than we have in a long time. It is going to take more than that to even make mud. Looks like we will be in for more hot weather. In the 90's Monday and on for the week.
We have wild turkeys around here too. They are interesting! I'm so glad the guy fixed your road and I will cross my fingers for you that it holds.

There is some beauty in that ugly bird. Well not ugly but ungainly maybe. But I do love to see a flock of them, my mind goes back to when they were a staple of frontiers folk.

We haven't seen many on our property but see them 8 miles cross country at the farm, once in awhile. We are seeing a few deer cross the field now that the hay is off and many bear and coyote on the trail cameras.
Won't be long and you can shoot one for Thanksgiving...peel the hide off, wrap him in bacon, fill him with more bacon, fruit, roast, toss the stuffing, eat the rest...mmmmmm,mmmm
