Just a country girl kicking around the dirt roads taking pictures of trees, gates, animals. cactus, and anything else that strikes my un-fancy mind. You are welcome to take a look and come back if you like.

Bet Ya Can't Guess Where We Went On Christmas Day?
I'm such a scrooge. I didn't want to cook on Christmas day (well I didn't invite these people here) so we were heading to San Antonio to eat at Denny's. As we went on the edge of the strawberry capital of Texas (Poteet) I noticed a little Mexican family restaurant had their OPEN sign lit up. We took a little vote since we had planned to drive some country roads anyway. All the votes were I don't care so we did a u-turn. It was a good choice as thier food was good and best of all there was no complaining from the Mrs. in the company section. We found a couple of roads John and I hadn't driven on so we were happy. The Mr. of the company is interested in Texas ways and the Mrs. just napped. Don't think we are anti-family. We had all those normal get-togethers early and it was a nice Christmas. We can't brag about having the largest turkey or the most expensive gifts but life is good.

finding good food w/o cooking is always a good thing. and company can wear thin if they are fussy. :) glad you had a good christmas.
I think you did the best thing possible. There's no need to have an elaborate Christmas meal. Mexican food sounds great (and you didn't even have to wash the dishes....)
I think it worked out perfect Paula! I did things a lot different this year myself - out to dinner for the traditional Italian Christmas eve meal, brunch as usual for Christmas morning and then just opted to make up platters for later in the day and let the kids have a party. It was so much fun. Cheers to the new year. Wishing you good health and happiness :)
You are the best. Love your tales even if someone sleeps thru interesting trips. LOL We too were going to Denny's but ended up at Perkin's. Wish we could found a local restaurant open.
Love and enjoy the company! As much as you can!!
I think you had a great Christmas - we celebrated it early and did something very similar! Merry Christmas.
Rick and I ate Mexican for lunch on our traditional Christmas eve last minute shopping spree...ha. That sounded like a good day, good food and no cleanup. Take care, Sheila
I'd never think of you as a scrooge or as anti-family....but maybe you don't want to be a slave to the kitchen on a holiday.
